OK. I dare you to buy that thing for $14k, post the build and tell us the final build cost and we'll see how much you spend and what you end up with. I am really interested in this.
The final price is irrelevant (within reason) in my opinion. As long as you end up with a car you love, and are happy with it, that is all that matters. My car has cost me way more than it is worth, but I have enjoyed the journey of the build and making it my own. I would buy that 35 coupe for the asking price in a heart beat.
What's sad is I've tied up most of my car money lately and am considering what to do. I just bought this 31 Cabriolet and I've been tinkering with my 28 Tudor
I've been watching this thread, hoping to find what happens with this deal, as I really like the car. If the guy has owned the car for 30 years and it was last tagged in 1979 (36 years ago), he has apparently never done a thing with the car. I'm sure we've all seen many of these annoying scenarios: A guy has a car, always saying he's going to fix it up but never does so. And here we are 30 years later, and the guy hasn't even bothered to clean it up. Well, at least he has it garaged and is preserving it at his expense for someone who will eventually get the car (likely out of his estate) and do it justice. If you've had a project car for a few years, it could be time for you to sell it...before it soon turns out to be 30 years!
It's his car: What difference does it make if he fixes it or not? Sometimes the satisfaction is in just having it.
He doesn't have any of this stuff advertised and I'm wanting to look at all the rest and go from there. There's only a few people that know about it and they aren't going to pay the price around here.
I'm thinking if you got that coupe , with the other project in the shop you would not have much time for the 29. So, I'm thinking you could sell the 29 AFTER you get the coupe and have money to do it up. You wouldn't want the 29 sitting around collecting dust while you did other projects. JMHO
If it is as described and you have the dinero -- buy it. Solid Ford coupes are if nothing else fun to own and look at.
So what's the deal firefox? Did you buy the car? Based on your photos you know what you are looking at and doing. You said it yourself that $14k was a lot more than you wanted to spend, is that because you have your liquid assets tied up in to many projects or deep down do you not think it's worth the asking price?
I haven't done anything yet, I'm going down there today to hopefully peak at his other cars/trucks, then I'll make my mind up. I am tight on toy money right now, bought the 31 Cabby and today is my oldest daughters 16th B-Day so you know what that means. I'll keep you posted!
16th birthday. Oh yeah. I have two daughters. Both wanted big ass parties. I told both of them no. They watch to much of that shit on tv with the rich spoiled kids having big affairs. My younger one is resourceful. She asked to borrow the money from me to throw a big party and she would pay me back with the gift money. She rented a firehouse hall, hired a dj, catered the affair and invited every kid from her h.s. It turned into a huge nightclub party and she cleared thousands of dollars. I was shocked.
Mine aren't into all that, just great appreciative kids. I think I'm going to teach my youngest how to weld and do body work, turn her into a hot rodder!
Fire fox, buy it, looks solid, spend another six grand maybe less getting it back to running condition and you will have a bad ass steel coupe.
Great score, add another $5K+ freight to get it here. Bargain given it's complete and looks pretty solid. All those little things do add up and it will end up costing a lot more in the end when you have to find them later.
Hey Firefox, After teaching a gal how to use a plasma cutter and a welder, she fell in love with me. She has been the best thing in my life for the past 5 years! Women do learn how to do these tasks quickly. And aren't afraid to ask questions if they are unsure....
Disc brakes and SBC subtracts from the price, not add to it. Does it have those really cool embossed door panels and dolphin gauges also?
