Okay. So... I may have a little back-burner project happening that may or may not involve a 26/27 Roadster. No, it's not being worked on instead of the Murray (before someone asks), but have been collecting some parts, including a Duvall/Hallock frame casting set.

I'm having a hard time finding pictures of 26/27 Ford roadsters with true Hallock and/or Duvall windshields. Seen a few pictures around the net of some "interesting" versions, but not much resembling a nicely proportioned setup. Even MORE curious to see just ONE picture of a 26/27 with a Duvall/Hallock and a TOP, that looks good. (if that's possible) May have to do a "Photochop" of such an animal.

This is the closest I've found to something proportional looking, and something still stands out as off to me..

There must be a MILLION examples of Model A's; 28 through 31, and of course 32's, but not much in the T-roadster category. So, maybe post 'em if you got 'em.

    Thanks!

Not many pictures because there aren't many out there. Especially old hot rods. Most of the T's with split windshields have the Speedway Motors/Briz windshields on them.

  3. I was going to say I think that the Hallock or Duvall type of windshield was more of an A and Deuce thing. Not to say that they didn't land on a T though, just more popular with the bigger roadster crowd.

Yeah, I've seen a couple "modern" interpretations. A couple that are pretty decent, but most, not so great. And maybe it's really because of the nature of the design versus the proportions of the car.

  6. I think that is going to be your biggest hill to step over is getting your proportions right. But you can do it no hill for a stepper. ;)

When doing a Google search there are some that look okay proportion-wise, but then the rest of the car is so ridiculous I really can't post it here...

I think that touring has a Speedway windshield.

Speedway's '26-'27 kit was originally a Rusty Stevens design, ('Stevens Motor Co.') after debuting the '27 with V windshield and full racecar nose at the San Jose Street Rod NATS (1 year only, drat!) a few years later sold the line to Speedy Bill.
If some pics can be found, there were some taken there of the roadster alongside the famous Deucari, by Brian Burnett.
Rusty had my wife and I drive the little Pinto-powered Nose Job around the grounds, got much attention.
I spotted Brian's Deucari, and pulled the red '27 up next to it. The Stevens '27 looked like a miniature clone to the tall V windshielded '32 highboy, both fire red.
The Stevens windshield was the best split style I've ever seen on a T.
Speedway still sells it, but not sure if you can get it separately...Probably a $1,000 item.

Interesting story! I didn't know that. Big money windshield frame for sure!

I somehow just stumbled on this picture of someone's car that's for sale. Looks pretty proportional, actually.

My opinion only...boat windshields belong on boats. There have been plenty of tasteful T windshield treatments using basic T stanchions/frames - both past and present. IMO the chopped/modded T windshield looks far better. I think (perhaps unknowingly) a lot of people feel the same, which is why photos of boat windshields on T's are hard to come by. JMO.

I certainly don't disagree. In fact, I'd always planned on running a nice little cut down and removable T windshield and stanchions, and have the setup.. however, when I fell into a Duvall, it sparked my interest... which is why I'm curious and started the thread. Certainly not a lot of evidence out there of them being mounted on T's. I don't recall anything in the Don Montgomery books either.

Agreed...and I was sorta busting your chops by calling it a 'boat windshield', haha!

I'll look thru my stuff to see if I can come up with anything.

I'm usually not a big fan of Duvall or Hallock windshields, but as far as T roadsters go, I like the looks of the Chopit Customs built roadster. This pic I took at the 2015 GNRS doesn't show it very well, you can go to their website for some better views.

    Scott,
Which one do you have, A DuVall or a Hallock? I know that I've seen a DuVall on a T-Ster somewhere????? On my avatar T-Ster P/U, I use a chopped stanchioned and lower W/S on the for the chopped effect with the w/s kicked out. It's pretty cool to read that your brain is looking ahead.
    Congrats!!!!!!!

I've never been into most Hallocks or the interpretations on 26/27s. But a DuVall (that is, with a frame wrapping around the gl***) on a 26/27 T roadster, that would pique my interest.

Also, if you want to sell/swap your T windshield parts, let me know.

I've never thought a Duvall/Hallock looked good with a top. I wrestled with that decision on my roadster but decided if I wanted a top, then I had to have the factory windshield. I'm all for being proven wrong, but I'm not holding my breath..

That actually looks pretty good, right there!

Kev! Long time! We need to catch up.
I have a DuVall style with the tops, however nothing says they actually have to be used. They're there if I decide to use them. Everything is a raw-cast and needs to be fit, welded, and machined, so I can really make them fit however I want, and the HEIGHT can be whatever I want as well.

I've not ever been a fan either, except on a few builds here and there, but when I came across one for in the "raw state", it got me thinking about it.

I've seen those. What is the back-story on these? Are these based on something old, or are they a modern interpretation?
