dumb ass question.......... is this the Ed Roth "Lil Jewel"

  3. It's not the original, it's a slightly more modern interpretation or tribute to Roth's car.

I hate the word clone....to me it represents someone trying to fake someone out....or misrepresent what they have.....like cloned Rolex watches.

This car is meant to give an idea of the kind of stuff Roth was doing to those of us who were not around back then and to take those guys who were lucky enough to live those days on a memory lane trip.

Your chassis looks great. I just bought a chassis with the same front spring in the rear and its been temporarily mounted to some pins on the axle. It was wondering if the rear travel would be too limited with the spring mount being the same height as the frame over the axle. How much travel do you have? Mine is just about 3 inches. I'm thinking that maybe my spring is pulled down a little being set on the solid pins instead of shackles, I haven't got a chance to pull it off yet to check, I am waiting on front suspension pieces so I can figure out if I need to Z the rear a little more.

    Thanks

    Jerry

all in all it has been a long couple of days. I am still in awe of the crap that was going on with this car. nasty torch cuts, general scabbery, and my favorite, just gluing the insulation straight over rust.We could spend weeks on this car just to get it together.but time only allows for so much, so we have to make it as nice as we can as fast as we can. more manyana!

as far as I know, it is a custom mix. but it is awfully close to a gto color called"Vidoro green" which was basically a dark green with gold flake in it. the more gold, the lighter it got. we also call this color "survivor green" because every unmolested, unwrecked musclecar we find from that era (68-72) seems to be painted either that or "bastard beige"...:D I figure the kids wanted red or black, and the adults of the day wanted something a little "classier"

    Looks cool.

I always love to see chassis and build photos to see how other people are putting things together.

YEA!! Now we can work on my car :D!!

  12. Jerry, I kicked (or Z'd) the frame two inches in the rear. This gives an additional 2" of clearance. It's also pinched in the rear a couple of inches to clear the model A subrails. At ride height, we should have 3" of clearance which should be more than enough travel for the sedan. I also used rubber bump stops.

On your rear spring, you definately want to put shackles on it in order for the rear spring to do its job.

  13. Lux....exactly what I'm looking for man...exactly. I got to make a quick trip to NYC in the morning....so I'll pick it up Saturday. Thanks man. I'm glad we got all that stuff cleaned up underneath....that was the last sin left by the prior builder. We're all good from this point on.
