Here I am, and You're A Rocket Queen

Well, everyone knows that I suffer from ADD.

I had Frizby out yesterday helping me rearrange my garage. There was a big empty spot in there since the lander is at the upholstery shop.

I bought this 36 Chevy truck last year off of skyspop after it sat in the cl***ifieds for a while with no interest. Apparently everyone thinks that only early Ford farm trucks make good hot rods.

I want to go out to Bonneville next year so I thought that I would throw a beater truck together to take out there. I have heard on "the interweb" that Rat Rods are the latest craze, so I thought I'd try my hand at one.

There isn't any floor in it, so the cab is a little stretchy right now. That doesn't really bother me though since you have to cut the floor out anyway to channel it over the frame.

Anyway after I brought Frizby home for supper I got a little rammy and started cutting. I will probably lower the rear of the cab down an inch or so too.

It will actually have a bed, but the sides will be made from '59 Lincoln quarters that I got from uncle scoob.

The hood will stay, by channelling the cab the curve of the sides will wrap nicely over the frame.

I need to save my change so I can get a dropped axle for it and a ch***is engineering leaf spring set since the rears are so long and arched. It has some nifty helper springs that I have toyed with the idear of making into quarter elliptic springs to hold the rear.

 

So far the cab is channeled 5 inches and the back hasn't been dropped much.

I figured that a Guns and Roses song ***le would be a fitting name.

Plowboy, you've got the makins of a really cool little truck there. Those Chevy's make good hot rods. Is this by any chance the truck that was at Marty's and Sons swap awhile back?... it looks real familiar. If it is that truck: I thot bout gettin it for myself at one time. Good luck with it. Keep us posted and let us know if you do make that trip to the Salt with it.

 

I dig the Lincoln taillights, are you planning to integrate those into the design? I also love the sweet mags on the back of the truck. Is that the original frame?

 

That thing is begging for a inline! It'd be pretty trick to see a 250 or 302 Jimmy with say 3 carbs and spilt custom headers, maybe going up behind the cab with the tractor flaps on top!

 

once again, you've nailed the perfect wheel/tire combo... make sure you keep 'em safely covered during construction!

honestly, you have byp***ed anything that might be considered rat rod, you need to go over the OSR website for unfluence.

To start with weld only with your left hand with your left I closed.

I would recommend a healthy diet of MDX or Red Bull so you shake alot when trying to do anything that might resemble work. At that point i feel you might be able to generate something ratrodesque, oh, dont forget you have to paint it with a roller and a gallon pail of ACE hardware primer...

other than that, why waste your time as you do some of the most inventive and creative home spun stuff around?

YEAHHHHHH!!!! Lincoln should have made a pickup back then. I thought that body would make a cool ranchero. It will make a dandy *** for that truck.

No Way!!! Did I just see Plowboy mention building and "RAT ROD" in the same sentence!?!?! Maybe now Ol Skool Rodz will give you some recognition! HA! HA! HA! I need to send my measurements to Lakeheaders tonight or tomorrow. Radiator barn was only $119 bucks for the radiator. Plus they gave free shipping. I should have an Allis Chalmers steering box to put in the old mutt.

 

This truck was the one that was at Marty and Sons. Patrick and Jeff were just delivering it to me. As a matter of fact, I think half of their trailer was my ****. That was nice of them to haul it all down for me. Ha Ha Ha

I just want a quicke fun project where I don't have to worry about how it will come out. I don't plan on running out on the salt. I just want something cool to haul the beer out there.

I have grandiose plans for my next custom rod endeavor.

 

Leave the Lincoln "bed" almost stock width, and use the original skirts... It'll look like it's floating on a cloud whenever you push the go pedal

Everyone knows that if you are making a Rat Rod...its uncool. But if you know its uncool and you are making a Rat Rod, then its cool. KInda like the gay thing.
