Brought to me from Juneau AK, in tough shape. Was the original frame from his car with mods done by a local. Brought it to us to install one of our full Bolt-In-X crossmembers and set him up with a more traditional style frame. As delivered: After the reconstructive surgery:
Outstanding of course, can you post some close up shots of the welds, detail, that front engine mount please
me want and while your at it, how about some pics of how the front bones are mounted to the center x-member
That's a definite improvement over what came in, I presume once back home in AK the body will be married to the ch***is as soon as possible.
You always come up with the engineering ideas and designs that are far ahead of the market place. Nice work. I would like one of those X-member kits for a 1934 ch***is I'm working on.
Something I have been thinking, and these pics seem to re-enforce my thoughts, boxing the rails in the area where you have installed a channel x-member is pretty much redundant, you are just adding extra weight, right?
Correct me if im wrong. But ive been to juneau on a alaskan cruise and they said there are no roads in or out. How did they bring you the frame?. Just curious?
There is some benefit, but marginal at best. The weakest part of a '32 frame is the S-curve up and over the rear axle. If you were to do anything, that is the place to do it. The C takes care of the stiffness between the front and rear. I'm sure it wasn't cheap, but the guy has a winter home in Bisbee.
Probably sent the frame out by freighter. I met a guy who lived in Juneau for a while. There is a small network of roads & hiways in the area, including Alaska #7 that goes several miles north up the coastline. He told me there is a local car club there also, pretty much anything special interest all lumped in together. K6
