  2. My Dads 30-31 A Bone Two Door Phaeton, the photo with his buddies in the car was before it chopped. Dad and my uncle chopped the top, it had bigger headlights, larger wheels, Mopar grill & it was lowered. Four banger had a Cargar head, photos were taken in 1932-33 at Muroc Dry Lake. WOW! That is one Great Looking Two Door Phaeton, were is the car today? Without checking I think that grille is a Studebaker item. That looks like an S in the hub cap, wheels may be Studebaker too. Bob

With the scarcity of antique bodies nowadays, anything you can build a cool car from is fair game.
will it be HAMBly? Ummmm...depends on a lot of stuff, but that's no reason not to fix this one up nice.

In case nobody mentioned it, the Phaeton might be heavier, but it won't "swap ends" nearly as easily as a roadster.

  18. Don't get caught up in all the semantics... Build what you like the way you like it!

Huh? Scarcity? I don't think so. Look at how many TRoG build come together every year. These guys are all finding bodies/projects. Speaking of my area, I know of three pretty decent Model A coupe bodies for less than I paid 8 years ago all within 200 miles of me. And I'm not even plugged into the local scene like other guys. I don't know many of the Model A club folks, either. I'm sure they know a lot more of what's out there than I do.

Plus, this seems to be the year to find Model 40s.

I know of a handful of projects sitting in rafters or collecting dust in lazy folks' garages. There's still a lot of good early Ford stuff out there.

It's still out there, but 40 years ago there was 10x as much available.

PurdueSD. I love your car and I would say my car will look like your car more than any on this thread! My original post wasn't really asking what I should build with my car, I have already picked the era and style I want. I was just asking how many of the Phaetons were actually rodded back in the day because you rarely see them in the old Lakes pics and such. I know they make wicked rods now just didn't know how common they actually were in the early days of rodding. Any more old pics out there???
