Wow Baron these pics are amazing! Im having a blast looking at them all...Dicky saw me in the 49 last week and was grinning like the grinch... and John Lyons jumped in the passenger seat in manchester while I was parking...havent seen him in a while...he loves that car as much as I do....started to look like a cruise night my Dad was there in the 57 too.... Im having the time off my life!!!
Hi Tom. Good to see you have joined the HAMB. Great group of guys and gals here, and a wealth of information on early Hot Rodding ,Rods and Customs. Glad your enjoying the Olds. I love east coast cars a lot. The car known on here as snoopy is plain beauty. There is a car on here that look similar but with a raked body. That cool too.
Great old pictures! I don't remember the guy's name but that T coupe was bright orange and came from Somerville if I recall correctly. The Stude convertible was shades of green I think. The chopped Ford convertible was Len Legere's and became a full on show car on the ISCA circuit. The deuce pickup belonged to Paul Bourque from my hometown of Saugus Mass who owned a body shop and was blue at the time. He later chopped it and painted it gold. Last time I saw it it was painted lime gold Metalflake and had a straighr axle and a small block Chevy.
Ronnie Newman's Nailhead Buick powered Roadster pickup. This was taken in 1962 at the 4th of July Parade in Gloucester. Dick Harting was doing the driving. I remember seeing this car for the first time right around this same time frame parked in Mal's Department Store parking lot. One thing that stuck in my mind on this Hot Rod was the interior . There were four red /white boat cushions for seats. Two sitting on the plywood floor and the other two were nailed to the plywood seat back ! Hot Rodding in its simplest form.
Mickey and his brother were probably two of the finest sign painters on the East Coast back then. mickey's gold leaf work was absolutely stunning. His nephew Don is carrying on the tradition in Dracut.,MA
John North's 'White Pearl'. The scallops must have been recently applied when this pic was taken. It debuted at the '58 Hartford Autorama in solid white. Has an odd grill in fron in this pic that was eventually replaced by a (better looking) tube grille.

this coupe was a school teachers car until Gil Turgen from Lowell, Ma. hot rodded it in 1954. this is the car that when i was a kid i would wait every day to see go by on his way home
this is the famous Fran Bannister roadster that i unearthed some years back, i sold it to Larry Hook who has done a great job restoring it. he made a promise to me that he would do it and he was TRUE to his word !
this is a shot of Mickey Fearon's shop truck taken many years ago. if you study the lettering you will see his great talent.
always loved that car and wondered if it is still around. i remember it at the Boston roadster's car run on the cape. Falmouth ma.
yes it is completely and lovingly restored by Larry Hook from R.I. he has been invited to show it at pebble beach if i'm not mistaken.
