Awesome; let's keep it going with the young ones! Heck...I will be going on the Power Tour with my son Ian in June! We are planning on driving from Detroit to FL and then doing the full "long haul" thing. We have wanted to do this for years and he is "forcing" me to take advantage of my accumulated vacation days.

Excellant to see that Krusty Kustoms wil be represented at the Dallas Autorama this year...and with TWO generations in the house.

Looking forward to seeing you, your Son and the rest of the crew!

Crappy show this year...the Mopar club has killed it. A handfull of cool cars but not enough to be worth admission.

Lomino, what was wrong with that chopped chevy truck? That looked pretty damn tastefull. Hope you got the bugs worked out.

    Well...everyone is entitled to their opinions, so here's mine;

Lots of variety with plenty of stock/restored cars, some of the very best "all-out" show cars including the Foose built Ken Reister owned "Impression" and a Ridler Top 8 winner from a couple years back, 8-10 REAL Traditional Rods and a cool display from the boys at Krusty Kustoms, Trucks, both up in the air and on the ground and lots of national magazine featured rides too.

Not the nicest building, but who cares, it is the cars that we are here for!

I have been told my MANY people that the show is looking real good and better than ever with a wider variety of vehicles.

Show opens today at 3, hope to see lots of you here in Dallas.

maybe they didn't "kill" it, but they certainly havn't helped. The show has just kinda gotten less and less exciting each year. When I was a kid, I loved going. Even up to a few years ago, it was stilll kinda cool.

But lately, it's just the same cars over and over again, with stockers and muscle cars inbetween, and a couple high profile cars up front.

And after last year, with THEM! bringing some cars to the show, and experiencing the attitudes of some of those guys...seemed like they just didn't get it. I can see they are trying to appeal to a broader demographic, and the appearance of the "rat rod" class is evidence...but last year, they said concerning FltBlk's truck, "we usually want nice cars in here." And then this year, they weren't going to let in a couple of those "rat rods" because they didn't have floors in them.

Anyone notice the "custom calvacade" was missing this year? what happened to that? I still miss the model show too...thats been gone for a few years now.

I went to the Houston show with Merc a couple years ago, and it was a pretty nice show, even worth the drive and ticket price. I don't know why they can't make the Dallas one better.

Im with you Eric...The Dallas AutoRama is just "ok",......... We go cause ....... theres nuthin else,........ Its not that the show "Sucks" but somehow it doesnt "UnSuck".......... It seems only a 1/8 of the show is New....... the rest is the same tired old tri-5s, Mustangs, trucks, and show circuit cars............... its the SAME old show every year........................... we go cuz theres nothing else........... It needs a shot of Viagra!................Dont get me wrong Bob, I love the AutoRama..... I love it like i loved my grandmother. She was old, crusty, her house smelled like mothballs, and she burped and farted...ALOT. And I went to see her everyyear too.

Dallas needs a show to put it on the Gearhead map!!!!!!!!!!!

    I should do a show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Like I said before. I have always gone on Thursday nights to see old friends and check out the cars. Yes there were some nice cars but even the rat rods were kinda overboard. There was a old truck there with the Hemi in it but the air bags killed it and the brand new tags on the tires. I just dont get some of this stuff. Maybe it is me but has some poeple missed the point about these cars. I will shut up and go back to minding my business as if my point even matters. No matter what I will still go every thursday night but it will ahve to make some major changes before I attend. Plus I aint in it for the awards anyways. I like to Drive them.

Who won what for the awards?

I decided against better judgement and went on Sunday-- Just like you said
just cause .. I thought there was a few things to look at that had some style
The little pickup with the International grill , and the Hemi motor was pretty neat --Liked the 53 and or 54 Chebbies .. How about the 1965 Plymouth
Altered wheel base ? -- I'm a Mopar person myself, although I agree the Dallas Mopar club is a bunch of snobs, it would be hard to blame the show on those goobers --There is plenty of dumb junk to go around --I really think
DFW could support a DECENT sized show , that did not have that type
of crowd --Roads were not too bad, only seen two accidents over and back
I was not part of either --Thankfully

I gotta say I agree with the THEMers. Theyre display last year was the best thing about the show for me. The Chups did a club display a couple of years ago that was alot of fun to do. We did a tribute to Roth complete with Hamilton artwork and several airbrushed monster shirts. We actually put some thought into it and even got filmed by the "Mothers" car polish Car Show series. The 'Club" award went to the Mustang club who had ten stock mustangs and a vynal banner. They also won it the year before. Dont get me wrong, we werent goin for the award but it kinda makes you wonder about the judging for these things. Oh well, like some have said before its the only thing goin on and it is the Autorama and it used to be cool so whatcha gonna do? If Im in Dallas I rather go to Bass's, Mark, and Charlies shop. Just my 2cents....Thank God for the RoundUp!!!

  28. Well we just got back to Houston today after a long six days. I agree with you guys about the Mopar club, and we had our share of problems with them, but since we were invited there by people above them it all worked out. I have not done the Dallas AutoRama since the 80's so many of the cars I had never seen before. All in all we had a good time and got to meet alot of people.

Not sure. By the time I got there Thursday they had it in the Display already. I know the battery was low and it needed to be jumped off when we loaded it Sunday night. Glad you thought it was tasteful...... I really dig the truck.
