Can anyone tell me what years Chevy and GMC put the Dana 44 under their trucks? Also, what model truck would have had the 44? C10, C20, etc. 1/2-ton, 3/4-ton, 1-ton.? It's a 6-bolt pattern.
I posted this question on the Stovebolt website, where all they do is Chevy trucks, and one guy that responded asked if I could tell him what truck the rear end came out of so they could tell me the years and model, and the other guy said "just guessing, but I'd say '72 and earlier." Gee, it's a direct bolt-in for coil sprung rear suspensions, so yeah, considering the coil over suspension was from before '72, that's a good guess...and if I KNEW the truck it came out of, there'd be no need for the post!

My question has been there for over a week, so it isn't getting answered.

I'm trying to track down brake pieces for a rebuild. Thanks for any help.

60 to 68. 1/2 ton. two and four wheel drive. Only if ordered with posi. So between 60 and 68, if you ordered a posi, it was a 44 rear.

    Awesome. Thanks.
A couple more questions then: Will the brake hardware be the same for the 44 and the 12-bolt? Specifically, shoes and wheel cylinders.

Also, where did you get this info? (so I can expand my library/resource list)

I'm having the same inquired question. Did you ever find out if the 12 bolt brakes would work?

  5. Give Brad a PM... err, I mean "start a conversation" with him- he doesn't get alot of time to get on the HAMB these days, but I'll let him know that you were asking!
