I got my roof and all the cab side wood finished and done now.
Made/modified my own door latches so there is a striker to keep the paint from scratching from the latch. also I recessed screws in all the wood instead of nails to make everything removable for paint, etc.
And the seat is now modified, at pretty much made the back straight up and down, i will contour the foam to get a little back support, needed my ass as far back in the cab as possible for some leg room!
Now I gotta build the seat frame/mount and then off to building the visor.

  7. I am building the same truck. Is that a 4.3 chev v6? I am thinking the same so I don't touch the firewall and can still get condenser in front of rad.
Are you going to run air?
What is the front crossmember and is it 4 inch dropped axle? I want mine to sit like that.
    Front tire wheel size?

    Thanks
    Gordon

I really like your top treatment. Here's my '29 CCPU extended cap. Some what of an illusion of a chop by flatening the roof DSC00006.JPG

Great looking pickup, Gary. You've definitely got the stance nailed!

Yes its a 4.3 Chevy, and yes I have air on it. I had just enough room to make everything fit without cutting the firewall other than to make room for the distributor.
It has a stock crossmember with a 4" drop axle, the front wheels are 15x5 with 145r15 tires.

It's been awhile since I posted anything, been busy working on the truck! Got a lot done, chassis is done, I've fired the engine, the body and a few misc parts are painted.

The rears are just roll arounds, they are oooold tires lol. They are 15x7 wheels and 235r15 tires.
The ones I'm going to use are 15x8 wheels with 255/70 r15 tires.

Thanks everyone for the kind words!

image.jpeg Awesome! You painted it the color I had planned on painting mine. Looks fantastic. Can you post a close-up of the doorlatch protector you made? I need to make one So I can take the tape off protecting my new paint!

Well blue was one of my colors i considered haha!
I don't have the door latches put back in yet, but i will once i get it together. Its basically just a strip of alum. wrapped around the edge... I will get a pic.
    Thanks,
    Gary

  20. Gary, the truck looks fantastic - love the stance and how the front tires tuck up into the crown of the fenders to really get it down there.
    Great job!

Great looking truck. Like the screen idea also, don't know how many times I've ended up with a bee in the truck through those vents.
