Features 41-48 Ford and Merc Picture Thread!

I'm running 6.70x15 bias ply's on mine and couldn't be happier. 7.10x15 might also be a good fit. Depending on the rake and stance you're after, you can also go with an offset combo of bigs in the back and littles up front. I admit that I'm at a loss for knowledge in that department, but am sure that someone here can sort it out if that's the direction yours looking to go.

 

Im running 6.00-16 on the front and 7.50-16 on the rear w/ 16x4 and 16x4.5 wheels. I think it looks pretty good on the car.

I like the proportion of those big 'ol wheels. They fit in the wheel wells nicely.

I recently bought a 1946 Ford coupe. It looks like a late 1980's build that has been updated a few times. No real beauty queen but a nice driver that is good enough to be re-worked again into something a little better. I got ZERO info with the car.....bought from a dealer that deals more in muscle cars of the 60's and 70's. It has a stock frame with Mustang II front, Ford 9" rear and the often done transplant of a Chevy 350/350. It drives much nicer than it looks and she seems like a solid base to build on. I will more than likely be asking for help as the oldest car I ever owned is a 1966!! So there is plenty of things to learn. Thanks

I had a 41 Ford Business Coupe that was redone, it it seemed like such a shame to cut it up because it looked nice, it had issues, the subframe was too wide. The builder uses a 72 Torino drivetrain.

I found another 41 a Merc this time. And it is going to be a taildragger. I like both the stock top and the chopped top. I decided I will get it done a little at a time, different things as I can afford them like frenched headlights or the seam filled and smoothed on the fenders. The last being the grill purchase and the top chop because they are both the most expensive. I've had it a little over a year and have never really gotten to drive it yet as I've been working on it bit by bit steering front suspension dash rebuild/replace gauges steering wheel H4's and now working on the wiring Harness. Hopefully in the spring I will have it on the road. I also hope to find a good flatty for it and have it rebuilt over the year, making sure those water jackets are clear. So I will drive it over this year and will pull the 355 out of it that is built to the gills and drop the flathead in it. Not worried about HP. I want it to be nostalgic of what a late 40s early 50s build. Instead of worrying what others will think about what I'm doing, I'm going to steam ahead and make myself happy as to what turns me on.

Annndddd... Just to prove that I am making progress - here's the coupe arriving home with it's new coat (custom mix - trying for an effect similar to what Geo. & Sam got by adding gold powder to a dark base using newer products).

Is there a reason I didn't see any hard topped chop ones in this thread ? Just curious to see if it's been done before

 

Here is a few of when I got it running when I was 19-20.
It's under re-construction again lol
P.S if u guys know a good way I could redo these original gauges to use mainly speedo n clock that would be awesome.
