Anyone know Studebaker V-8 stick setups? i am getting a '56 289 to use in a project truck . got to hook to a granny box. The engine has a car style 3spd OD now; maybe an adapter from years ago is the answer. Please educate the unknowing.

If you mean what I think you mean, you want a trans from a Studebaker 3/4 ton truck?

I gather the OP HAS a 4 speed with granny low already and wants to know what it takes to bolt it to his newly acquired Studebaker 289 V8.

While I have some Studie cars, with manual trans, I do NOT know what the bolt pattern is for your truck trans. At worst, you'd need a Studebaker V8 truck (3/4 ton or larger) bellhousing. All Studebaker V8 engines have the same block to bellhousing bolt pattern.

Thanks Hnstray. I want to use a more modern 4 spd,a Chevy SM465 or Np 435 from a ford.

A lot of truck 4 speeds used a common bolt pattern for many years/decades. It is possible that Studebaker used a Chevrolet (or Ford or Dodge) pattern transmission in their trucks. But, even if they did not, there are adapters for Studebaker V8s to Chevrolet. That would permit use of a Chevrolet truck bellhousing. Do you happen to belong to Studebaker Drivers Club? Lots of info available there and several vendors, some of whom offer transmission adapters.

Wish I could be of more direct ***istance with first hand knowledge of your particular plan.
    Best Wishes........

About 40 years ago a friend stuck a '57 President 259'' to a 5 speed (5th OD) out of a 56 Stude school bus using the bus bellhousing, flywheel, etc. and bolted it (literally) into a '49 3/4 ton pickup ...
