Need the RIm gurus to answer a question , DO Real Ansen slotted mags have a Uni lug style mounting or are direct fit only ... found a set local and they look like E-Ts ( down to the castings ) with a Ansen Push in cap and are unilug . also where was Ansen located ??

I've never seen a unilug Ansen wheel (doesn't mean they didn't make any) they normally say Gardena cal. On the back side cast into the wheel.

Ansens were direct fit. If the lug holes have a recessed area around it...they may be ETs...because they took a special washer. Ansens are marked on the back. Sometimes ETS arent. Do you have a picture? The center cap can be easily switched from one maker to another and isnt a reliable way to tell who the maker was....

the way they look I am leaning more of a ET wheel due to the build up in the center .

  8. Those are late production Ansens, not ETs. Note that it has the slotted bolt hole but the recess is round. Ansen used a 'special' insert that keyed into the slot but had a round flange for their multi-fit wheels; this was their way of getting around the ET patent. ET used a oval-shaped washer, the recess was oval to locate it. Finding those Ansen inserts may be an issue these days.....

They're Ansens..says so on the back. The recess is different from an ET wheel....so they probably take the special insert listed above...

didn't see any ansen markings , my E-T's say sprint on them too . but my E Ts I have are newer ( K-H production ) , and astro was also in gardena ca

but since steve brought up the washer shape it would not make it a ET , For the money I think I am gonna pass as the inserts probably will put it over new rim prices .

One of the pictures shows them being marked Ansen Automotive. Astro may have been in Gardena but I don't recall them ever making aluminum slot mags....never seen an Astro branded aluminum slot mag.

Astro made chrome slot mags that were all steel. Not beating a dead horse..just don't want others to be confused..or mistaken...

I'm no guru, but as Steve said, Ansen did make a uni-lug called the "Sprint II" (edit now that I see the pictures that's definitely what they are). They also had both push in (from the front) caps, as well as some with the screw on (eared) caps. Astro did make an aluminum slot very early on, (pic attached) I think this ad was in a 1964 Hot Rod. Have to admit I've never actually seen one in the wild.
