Technical 53 Chevy flexplate

    Working on my brother's 53 BelAir. Previous mechanic put a 12 volt starter on it- now the teeth on the flex plate are worn. We have a 6 volt starter now but it is grinding. This 6 volt flex plate is near impossible to find. Can I use a later 12 volt flex plate on this car with the matching 12 volt starter? Motor is 235. Thanks- Pat

    That's the answer, 12 volt 235 flex plate with the 12 volt starter

    Just a FYI; there's been an early 50's powerglide flexplate for sale on the Seattle area Craig's List for some time now. NOT mine or anyone I know. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
