    Four wide at Pomona...
YES...they did, was there..! At least one year, maybe two.
WHY...because it rained one or two of the days and the NHRA wanted too get the racing in.
I do not know what track that is in the picture, but that wan't the original question.
Say I'm wrong all you like, but...they did...race four wide for at least one race...period.

Mike, nobody said that there never was four wide at Pomona. I did say I never saw it there but saw it elsewhere.
    :)

  6. AHA! The car was just sitting there at Famosa, nobody around, nothing claimed.
I'll shoot anything interesting and I found it VERY interesting! Thanks!

Took this picture (I was learning how to use my new Nikon) around 1978-79 era. Although the Gasser days were long gone, the 2nd birth became bracket racing. Not the same, but at least we got to see how it was in the GWar days. Taken at OCIR. Anyone have more info on this car? Dick M

That hitting the brakes to win was not what racing was about, and like they say ' I'am outta here ' and sold my gasser and never looked back

The loud pedal is spossed to be pushed from light to light, least I had fun running in B/Gas class with heads up racing

Who would've been that 'certain someone' mentioned in the caption?

My guess would be Doug Thorley or maybe Tom Sturm. I was following things from the other side of the planet then and am not sure of the time lines.

This picture was taken in front of Blair's muffler rack...and we meant stay out! (though I had left by then, was half a world away)

Or maybe Jack Chrisman? The caption says "now there will be two..." -- Jack was running his fuel Mercury by then, and I think Steve built this around '64?? I was also on the other side of the planet then, above you (but probably with some of your mates, who made sure we had enough beer to drink, and painted kangaroos on our equipment when they departed)

  27. OK... o_O Now you're just making this stuff up in Photoshop, aren't you? :p

One thing's for sure. This car couldn't possibly have participated in any four-wide racing! Except maybe at Bonneville...
