So I have had this intake for a while. I'm considering using it on an Model A build. My question is 1... How do they perform on a typical mild build 46 flathead. 2... I have noticed mine only has the Evans on the top not the front like most I have scene online. Nothing indicates the font logo has been ground off on mine. Any idea the difference if any?
Any Evavs flathead whiz kids out there???
I have included some pictures of mine along with some pics I found online of others with 2 logos.

Earl Evans flathead intake manifolds and heads were regarded as one of the best brands, if not the best brand of flathead speed equipment available. The intake manifold you have is an early version from one of Earl Evans first runs. The later 2 X 2 Evans intake manifolds had the Evans name embossed on the front and the intake manifolds were sold already polished right from the factory.

Good to know. Mine has an old polish on it still. It's faint but it's still there. Do you know if it is a good street performer?

  5. thats what it was almost ALL about back then, drag racing started on the street and most cars were dual duty daily drivers.

What exactly do you want to know about its street performance???

Will it idle at comfortably at 500 rpms?

Yes, with the right carb and timing set-up.

Will it run smoothly up to 4500 rpms?
Probably, with the right carb and timing set-up.

Will it run good down the freeway at 2500 rpms?
Most likely, with the right carb, timing, exhaust, and gearing set-up.

Will it be as smooth, efficient, and easy to start as a modern EFI car?
Not a chance in hell, but a heck of a lot more fun.

Is the manifold leaving a few horsepower on the table when compared to other designs?
Most likely, but who gives a ****, it is a cool piece of automotive history. Run it.
