  8. From what I have heard George Poteet invented or makes some sort of large water pump or filtration system for city water suplies. That's all I know. Real down to earth guy.

Thats correct, a good friend of mine worked for him for about 2 years. He was basically paid to help him find and purchase cars and parts. He told me he actually got sick of going to the big swap meets nationwide. (Can you believe it) He finally quit, too much time away from home he said. I've met George and he is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. You'd never know he had all the cabbage.. He invited me up to see his toys, but I havent been able to get up there yet since he's about 6 hours away.

I talked with the guy who built this roadster at the Hot Rod a Rama. He told me that they are milk truck wheels:

  13. Kris, that's Bruce Donelan's roadster and he just calls them milk truck wheels but they are, as Homeresque said, Kelsey Hayes commercial accessory wheels that Ford sold.

I think Jambottle is the one selling those on Ebay. He says that they came off of an International in Canada. I emailed him earlier today saying that they were Plymouth wheels just like the pair I have and that there must have been one manufacturer selling the same wheel to multiple companies. That's the only way I can figure it because they are dead on in every way to my Plymouths.

Oh yeah, I NEED THOSE TWO to complete my set for the '27!!! Help a HAMBer out!!

There must have been a bid retraction, I looked at them last night and they were up to $2,025 now there back down to $1,875. The other guy also had a feedback score of 0.

We found one of the ones on Bruce's roadster at the Antique Auto Ranch in Spokane a while back for $20. It's amasing how prices have gone up. Nothing really cool is cheap unless you get your hands dirty. That's why they call it a hobby.

I was talking with JD Tone recently, and he was telling me that 18" rims are available new - all one needs to do is get a centre stamped, and at these prices it'd be worth while someone putting up the $ to get them up and happening.

Haven't purchased any of these....havent dealt with this company at all...but every time the big steelie question arises, I have to ask...

These are available, in 17's, 18's and 20's all day, apparently...and at about $260 per copy. Not cheap, but not $2000 a pair, either.

I sure didn't think my original post would draw this much interest. If I thought I needed these wheels I think I go for the repros. Thanks for all the historical info and photos. [IMG]

Bringing old an dusty thread to top

I might be getting 18 inch wheels for my roadster, so I thought I'd check for which tire size that will look best. I like the two roadsters below. Does anyone know what size and make thes are?

Anyone out there running the 700-18 Firestones? They are pretty close to the 750-16 in height. The 600/650-18 seems to low.

    Thanks, Magnus

The black roadster is my husbands and the tires are 700-18 Firestones. Just recently he's been running ribbed 700-18 truck tires.
