I need those 5 16th / 24fine alan/hex tapered flat heads for my door hinges in my shoebox.

Is there a place to order these? I cant move forward without replacing the hinge bolts and I can't get any in town- and they can't seem to order them...

    Can I get them online?

    Tuck,

You can get them from McMaster-Carr
    www.mcmaster.com
    Part # 91253A332
    this is for 5/8" long
they come in packages of 50 and the price is $8.61 plus shipping.

I need sixteen of them if you want to let a few of them go after you get what you need.

    OK UPDATE:
What im doing is the rocky trick.. ha.
im drilling out the hinge to 5/16'ths and getting long stainless bolts, ill get them long enough to cut the threads off the bottom and round off the top and slide them in the hinge- NEW TIGHT HINGE...

I got those stainless bolts fine...

NOW FOR THE OTHER FINE THEAD nItEmaRes

I didnt know we had a fastenall in cambridge thanks- thats really close to me and I'm gonna get set up with them.

I got a pm from titus- he can hook me up at work too-

chopolds dude thanks for the offer- I was waiting for word from one other source in town and that came up NOgo-

I had some replaced a long time ago and they were the hex head- and they worked great.

If I order in bulk ill send you some brickster-

I needed to get these hinges perfect before I can finish the door tops on the shoebox otherwise it might turn into a nightmare later.

Thanks for all the help and online resources this place is awesome.

I'll take pics of this whole deal and post.

    Thanks,
    Tuck

You can either drill them out or try the trick of welding a nut on the end of the screw...

I heat them up cherry red... and use a big phillips.. it has to be the right size tip. I also have a impact phillips too to break them free.

Once you get them loose... turn them back and forth enough to work them loose so you wont strain the tip.

if you screw up the head I would first weld a washer to it and then weld the Nut to the washer... that should work.

Thanks for the info. I think my dad has an impact phillips, I'll give that a shot. I headed out to a local yard recently and found out that them puppies are in pretty tight. Have you tried to get the hinge pins out without removing the hinges? Looked just about impossible? Thanks again!

  22. Nope order on line all the time. They have one of the best web sites I've ever seen. It's so interactive and tied together it's scary.

    MSC guarantees American made hardware?

    Dennis,
Yea, you have the choice with MSC if you want USA made/ Major brand names / or imports.
Fasteners/ drills/taps etc. etc. All choice of USA made or Import or ???
MSC has a LOT more items than McMaster Carr.
Can check stock too over the internet, so no guess work.
MSC's web site is good as well.
Agreed McMaster Carr has great detail also with their web.
    Just pointing out some differences.
How much do you spend Dennis with MCmaster ?
    What kind of stuff ?
    Just fasteners ?

www.cliphouse.com all sorts of body bolts, clips. I used them for years in the body shop. Most sold in lots of 10 or 20. They were good back then,up till 1991, I don't know about now. They are in Texas.
