ANyone have patterns or plans for Bomber seats? Don't think they'd be too had to fabricate if one had a pattern.

The guys that run volksrods.com sell a pattern kit that don't look half bad, think its like $15.

Wouldn't be that hard to figure out, trial and error.

    Good luck.

Built a set of these for my truck from some poster board patterns I made. It's not finished in the pictures but you get the idea.

What guage of steel or aluminum would you use for a set of seats like that? Wonder if I have anything laying around that might work. I've always liked the look of them with some beads rolled in the back

The Aluminum aint cheap either. A guy contacted us today, to make some, then pretty much gave me the sad story about "but this is a rat rod, on a budget...come on"....you know the story. Was $300 too much to ask for to make a pair of bombers for the guys "rat rod"?

With regards to the bomber seats, what is it like to run them in bare metal or aluminum with no padding. I want the bare metal look, but those I've shown the seat I made said it will be too rough on the road. When I just sit in the metal seat it actually feels very good, but I'm not moving.

I acquired a few sheets of aluminum plate for free. As for comfort, they rock. I have yet to get out of the Beater crippled like before.

  11. So did you end up doing the leather-n-lace thing you mentioned in your tech post?

Nope. Still gotta do that. I've been fighting steering demons for the past few weeks. I won that battle last night. I have a week to go.

Sounds fair to me. Hear ya on cost of aluminum, Just purchased the bright aluminum dimond plate for my '29 AA flatbed (6'x8') needed to take out a loan!

Seems the "repop" type seats go for around $200 each and they are welded.

Don't think they'd be to comfortable without a seat coshin'. Remember in a bomber they sat on their parachute.

Seems to me they would measure as wide as your ass and as tall as your shoulder blades and round them off. Bob

Figure out the cost of the material,
and the time to make a nice pair.
Until they start knocking them off in China.

Aluminum lawn chairs would be cheaper.
