Sorry if this has already been posted...

I just got the new Hot Rod magazine in the mail today, and the Holden in there is COOL!

Normally, fat fenders don't do a thing at all for me, but this Holden just looks sweet...

    What do you guys think?

That's the one... the lines on that thing are amazing...

If you trusted a "new" company enough to buy a brand new vehicle, could you think of a cooler family cruiser than that?

  6. No need to trust a "New" company.
Holden's been building cars for years and the Aussies have been cutting them up for almost as long.

wow, that thing is absolutely amazing...with the big 3 trying to make all the throwback "old timey cars" like the ssr or whatever the ugly-truck is called, its nice to see that someone put some cl*** back in the auto industry!!!
i'd love to have one of those.

I find this concept rather interesting:D It reminds me of a 49-52 chevy, I have never seen a Holden of this Vintage stock, but since the General has owned this concern for decades, I can see the kinship.;)
I don't have the issue of Hot Rod refered to in the post, but I like what I see:)
I think it looks great! just put pedals & wheel on the left then I'd feel more comfortable:cool:

Now how MANY of you guys would actually put out your hard cash for that, even if the steering were on the correct side?

By the time the corporate bean counters got done being heard, you're looking at a 6 figure "toy"...and most of you already give grief to the "gold chainers" and their 6 figures toys around here...gimme a break!!

not only does the current issue of hotrod feature this incredible holden.. it also provides some details of the shine and thacker roadster's performance in a wind tunnel..

If this keeps up I am gonna have to renew my subscription to hot rod!

  15. Wasn't this car posted here on the HAMB in the raw -by someone and a story about the metal work,.....

  16. HOT ROD is behind the times and so are you. Not only was this subject discussed here some weeks ago, but all the local mags featured this a couple of months ago!

I think you got mixed up with a post by Carps, this one the " Efigy " is all fibregl***, built by GMH as a concept car, it's on a Corvette ch***is. Car is based on an FJ Holden from the fifties.

Thats another one, the maroon one in hot rod is actually a gl*** body, Holden made a mould using all their hih tech stuff.
It was on display at the Melbourne motor show, sure looked pretty but aint my kinda car. The rear is wayyyy too long to be considered anything like the original, looks more like the result of s****e and kadzillas love child.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Kinda reminds me of of those Zepher fibergl*** bodies that Terry Cook is reporducing. I really like this one though. I think it looks very cl***y.

I had a chance to see this thing last week. First time to the land down under, just a week but work sent me and I caught a car show. Not a bad gig. This car looks great in person. I did think of the Buick mentioned above but this is so much more than that. It is closer to a mix between Cadzilla and a Zepher Coupe. The lines work together the car looked complete. The car guys down there (and there are a bunch of them) are either Holden or Ford fans. No middle ground and no other brands. Both companies have been building cars in Australia for decades. The efijy even had the Ford guys drooling. As cool as this concept was the Utes (think ElCamino / Rancharo) were the things I would rather bring back if possible.

Sad to say but I strongly suggest that Richard Ferrlazzo,
( Holdens design Guru), has ripped off his idea from the
ZZ-Top "Cadzilla" , right down to the same exterior colour and interior. Same wheel trims ,headlights and tail lamps,
Have a look at Godzilla on the 'Peterson Museum' Website.
    http://www.petersen.org/default.cfm?DocID=1014&cat=Cars & Guitars&ExhibitID=4
Latest news is that Holden is dusting off the moulds to make a blown top door slammer EFIGY in conjunction with John Peterson of 57 Chev fame.Powered by blown Chev 572 crate motor.

  25. Nope, the car that you've seen here in the raw is a real FJ Holden chopped 6" sectioned 6" and converted from four to two doors all in metal.

This car is a Corvette, with a new fibregl*** body pulled from a mould taken from a full scale clay model, mounted to the detailed Corvette platform and drivetrain. And all that bright work is BILLiT carved on a CNC machine!

  26. If you do some research I think you'll find it was a young Henry Ford who is responsible for relocating the steering wheel to the left side. :)

  27. Whe I view the car i see a bit of Cadzilla merged with Terry Cook's, S****e. I dislike the shape of the tail on Efigy as it's not anywhere remotely true to the original FJ which is shaped more like a wombat's ****.

Onn the otherhand Efigy is a totally different colour than Cadzilla.

Ralphie Rollback AKA John Peterson has just suffered a heart seizure! he is the most blue blooded Ford man I've ever known and would NEVER go racing in anything remotely linked to a Chevy or Holden. I think you have him confused with Top Door Slammer racers, Victor & Ben Bray. :)

Johm peterson?..as in black zephyr? if so, I read he was looking for another zephyr to build.......and for all you guys not based in this land heres a wombat...his **** is at the other end...:p ......and yes, that bare metal one mentioned is a real FJ, thats been "slighly" altered by Johns rod and custom, Melbourne ....... however this fibergl*** one is a full custom vehicle that uses no FJ parts whatsoever and was a vision in GMHs playful mind...full credit to the lines and having a go at something totally scratch built and made real........aparently the thing has big big horsepower, but know one has givin a decent squirt yet.....................as carps said its nearly all corvette underneath, ch***is..the lot....Bert

  29. Yup,, although the original was a green Mk1 and the name Ralphie Rollback was earned in that car long before the Black one arrived on the scene.

John is largeley credited as being the father of the modern 'Burnout Compe***ion' as occurs at various events around this country, in particul;ar the sillynats.

He was a serious drag racer and even more serious showmman. He'd line up and do as big a burnout across the line as he could muster, then stop, select reverse and back up towards the staart line as fast as he could. As the back wheels hit the burnout box going backwards, he'd select second or third gear and dump the clutch with crowd peasing tyre shredding resuls and the crowd would go nuts..

Despite the show that car was so well built and the little 289 so stout, that he was rarely beaten in the race, taking home many national drag racingawards during his carreer. Oh, and when the raacing was done, he drove the car home. Heck his missus used to drive the ****er shopping.

He's currently building a blown hemi for Norm Harding's new deuce coupe.

Cute? Yes. Dangerous, you betcha! He stands about 18 to 20 9nches tall and is as tough as a rock. I've seen one rip the front axle from a three ton truck tipping it on it's side in the process. So when spotted on the road late at night they are to be avoided at all cost. They live underground in a tunnel dug using their hind legs and the rounded **** is used as a door stop. It's tough enough to be undamaged by predators but this is where they are really clever. If a predator comes knocking, the wombat moves just enough to alow space for said predator to enter the tunnell by climbing over the wombat's back. Once the predator is in the right location, wombat stretches those legs that can tip a truck over and crushes the predator against the roof of the tunnell.

I've got some more pics of Chopper's 'Real Thing" to post soon, just gotta photoshop em down to acceptable size.

I was only a teenager, but I remember seeing the black one ALL the time.....ahh, those were the days......there was alot of heavy duty machines around that area when i was growing up.......dont remember seeing that many rods though.......hmmm, maybe I wasnt looking hard enough all those years ago ...........Bert
