I came across this listing EBay for this Weber carb set up for SBC I really like and thinks it cool looking. But I have bid up to a $1000 and still have not hit his reserve. What do you think its worth? It comes with over $100 worth of jets and throttle bracket.
If you haven't hit the reserve at $1K, I think it's overpriced. I've seen 4 IDF weber carb setups sell used in the $1500 range (or all-new at $2400) and that's arguably a better setup. The two-carb is a bit rare, so I expect you're mostly paying for that....
why in hell are you bidding it up with 4 days left? I guess if you haven't hit the reserve, its a moot point, but... And I agree with Steve.
You can get 2 new carbs for 800 or under, and whatever you value the intake for. Its a unusual intake for sure, not many were cast. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/weber-intake-for-a-sbc.990279/
Theres times I've paid over the odds for rare stuff I really wanted, 6 months from now, it wont really matter what you paid for it. But Its gotta be something I really want, and have been hunting for.
My recollection of the old Moon setup (4 of these) make this setup look a little anorexic. Rarity of the intake and visual condition of the Webers make the reserve believable. Like George says, "4 days left?" Bidding already?
I was trying to feel out the reserve on it , looks like someone else has out bid me ill keep an eye on it I like it because its different not some thing you see often.
Here is something to think about. Ford A.C. Cobras with a 302 ci. motor ran 4, 48's. Moon made a 327 manifold for the 4, 48's. If your motor is anything at all are 2, 48,s going to be enough? Looks aren't diddley if it won't perform. The Wizzard
No Its listed for 17oo here I saw it some ware else for 1500. I will wait and see where it goes on EBay first
It will only be good for a small cubes sbc , even if it has the largest venturies available fitted, a pair of 40s will only flow about 425cfm. They fit these to 1600cc engines in Europe. That's why only 11 manifolds were made, CB performance was prmarily a vendor of VW performance parts.... Webers need to be 48mm and four of them to make a V8 run reasonably well. Good for a 283 to about 5800rpm.
For perspective, I had a pair of 45mm Dellortos (Weber-'ish) on an engine back in high school. It was an 1835cc VW.
