    Am I missing something?
Wendy if you live in the Redlands
The people that must have known the car and possibly know what happen gather for donuts at Karen's Donuts this Saturday. Ask for Donny who is your father age and has lived in Redlands all his life

  2. Welcome to the HAMB Wendy!
    Nice car.
Keep searching. I know your passion...............
I have a 1940 or 1941 print of my dad standing behind his 40 Ford Convert. Young man with dark hair and a herringbone suit! He sold it just before the war and the guy drove it to California.
I'd like to find that one too...

In all honesty the car you are looking for now , probably does not resemble that picture .. .. There was a small group that liked old hot rods in the 90s it's highly likely that someone with deep enough pockets to buy a 32 steel roadster changed everything

Do you know how it was sold? , paper? ,car trader? Pomona swap meet?

    Early 90s or late 90s?

There is a good chance someone like Don ferguson sr. Bought it... ( then there is a chance it still exists as sold in his collection) Maybe Indian mike , the buy of a decent real 32 roadster would have been highly competitive

That is what I'm thinking. If it's still around, it's probably a billet loaded up street rod......

Good luck with your search; no matter what happens you are the BEST!
Personally, I hope it turns up in a garage just like it is in the picture, and when the current owner hears your story, offers it back for what he paid for it in '66 ( how cool would THAT be?)
What the heck, you gotta think positive, right? Cool music, Dad! Cowabunga!
    Again, GOOD LUCK!

The problem here is that his dad sold it back to the builder, who has a more legitimate claim to the car. If that's not the case, I wish you all the luck in the world!

  9. Doesn't mean the builder still has it,
or has an emotional attachment to it.
Also, it seems Miss Wendy is so charming, she can talk
whoever owns it back out of it!
If I had it, she could get it from me easy with her story.
    Keep up the hunt Wendy!

    And I was missing something,,,
Wendy you didn't say your Dad was Ed, he was surprised when I showed him his own picture Saturday morning. And you didn't mention the 17 tickets he got with the car before he was forced to sell it! It was great talking to him and the 'the one that got away'.
As for the Fergusons, they are friends and I will ask, but mostly they bought old race cars.
The person to set out on the hunt is Mike Spacek, contact me if you would like some more help

search for car clubs too... most of 'em have websites or at least face book pages... hit up the ones in the areas the car may have been in or moved off too. Car guys are the same everywhere, they notice the differences in kustoms and if it is still around someone will perk up. Good luck in your search.

It's awesome that you are doing this! We will keep a look out. Best of Luck!!

  24. Killer roadster! You mentioned that your dad thinks he saw it in the early 90s. How did he know it was the same car? Did it look the same at that point? I'm hoping for the best!

    Hey, Wendy;
Good luck finding your dads' old car, hope you luck into it. You said he had a really good memory. Since I'm curious about the guys & hardware in the pic you posted; L->R looks like a Thompson, 30 cal carbine, Garand & the last one I can't id. How close am I to being correct? & what's the story behind it? I'd sure like to have the hardware in the pic... :D ! TIA. Marcus...

I really enjoy reading this thread, hope you find the the car. very cool that your dad has a great memory and you two are close. If you don't find the car, could build another, a quest for all the right pieces and putting it to together as he remembered it could be rewarding as well.

  29. Such an interesting story, enjoying this thread, best of luck on your search!!
