This was our 5th or 6th year of attending the Early Tin Dusters 40th annual Fall Color Run in Quincy, IL. This year there were 785 pre-1949 vehicles registered. Several blocks of the downtown area are closed off to traffic for the event. We didn't take a lot of pictures this year but we will post what we have. We left our home in Petersburg, IL about 6am Saturday morning for the 100 mile drive to Quincy. We parked our car downtown, got registered (free) and have breakfast at the Thyme Square restaurant which has really great, locally sourced food. Then I went to the swap meet and then started looking at the cars Meanwhile, my wife headed to many of the shops for the Women's event "Go for the Gold" where they get coupons at participating stores and then are entered in a drawing for a chance to win fine jewelry on Sunday. Late Saturday afternoon we headed home. Sunday morning, we joined a group of 7 other local hot rods for the drive back over, stopping on the way for breakfast and ending at Moorman's Park in Quincy where Sunday's event is held. The event wrapped up Sunday afternoon with the top 10 awards, raffle drawings and additional drawings for a crate motor, transmission, air compressor, tires, etc. The event raised over $11,000 this year to be donated to a camp for special needs kids. It was a great event and a beautiful weekend. Thanks to the Early Tin Dusters.

Yes StuDBaker all the carvings including the walnut trunk and walking cane are Norm originals! He and I were close friends since 1976..Great guy, great woodcarver that is sorely missed by all that knew him...BTW the trunk was built in 1974...of course I've refinished it several times.....

Went there in '89 for the first time. Only missed a few years and then the kids all grew up and moved away, so now we go out west to see them every fall. Thanks Tin Dusters for accommodating us all those years. Maybe we can do it again sometime.

The best show on the planet for the price!
