QUESTION: 3-speed and 4-speed SAGINAW mounting???

    I was just trying to get the point across that you have to pay attention to the size of the hole in the bell, and the size of the bearing retainer, because there are two different size and I've been screwed by that in the past.

    Ok i will give you that one. I have been doing this for over 30 years and have never had that problem. So i am sqrirrelly about telling some one to really worry about that.

    my "lesson learned" was when someone put a truck bell on a Chevelle and the muncie behind it just didn't like things that way.

    easier to find truck bell housings than chevelle

    My 70 chevy pu had a 3 sp, using the same bell housing replaced it with a saginaw 4 sp broke that put in a muncie then wanted a 5 speed so it now has a t5 the all worked great except for my heavy foot

    If the trans lines up with the engine properly with the bolts, then it's not a problem...but in this case it was not lining up properly, and the trans would jump out of high gear. Replacing the truck bell with the 621 bell fixed the problem.

    Cool 55 i have a 57 lets line them up and see which is faster
