This car was a few houses away from my grandpa's house. My dad saw it go down the street once or twice then back to the garage. And my grandpa said that is an honest to goodness 32 ford roadster. He had a soft spot for them since he lost his drivers license in his 32. My dad ran into the neighbors son at the DMV and asked if he still had it. He said yes and I just pulled it out of the old garage. So we went and looked I was pretty stoked about it but new my old pops Would get it before me. A year went by and we kept watching and swinging by finally he said I will sale it i need the cash. My dad has enough cars and gave me the opportunity. Love that guy!
Hers my old model T I built 7 different cars all out fields and off fence lines and a ton of work. After I got done muffin took me for a ride in Hells Messenger (pic below) and it hit me I built the wrong style of car. And I wanted something with history and soul.
I love some of the cool little details. Like the headlight mounts no catalog parts there. Maroon is gonna kill the badass flavour. Blue would be good. Maroon screams "old mans car"
Killer profile! I'm not usually a patina guy, but this one actually looks cool as is. Washington Blue, with oxblood red wires is always a good combo!
Hey! Don't steal my color before I even get to brush it on birdog Just kiddin, more cool colors ain't gonna hurt no one. Wyatt
Thanks. Yeah search Hubba Hubba. That's just a photoshop that started out with my rusty body. I've only just begun building it.
Killer Ride with cool history. Get it running and comfortable and drive the wheels off of it. Enjoy. VR&C.
What a great car & story, there are not many old rods out there with history & soul like yours, make it safe & drive the wheels off of it !
You have a really cool ride that is distinct and different - something to be proud of and a blast to drive!
Get it road worthy and put some miles on it, this old heap (no disrespect meant) might just tell you what she wants! Keep us and Jim lnformed, what were his thoughts on his old hot rod? Love the Klub name! Be safe & thankful, Carp
Love that little roadster! It was great meeting you guys at the hillclimb! Hopefully you can bring the roadster next year?!
This is such a beautiful Rod! And I like it a lot, I got a thing for survivors. But this needs to get a paint job, and a little tidying up in the interior. Have you asked the builder abot the plan for color and it interior? Did you take him for a ride yet? But damn it that's close to perfect! A little paint, and a lot of driving that is what it needs! The right way to go around it is; Make it stop Make it go Make it pretty Make it keep going! You are more then half way there. And we need a lot more pics. Also some pics of it driving. Does it drive as good as it looks? How do you fit in it? I love channeled 32 roadsters!!
Thanks guys! I am stoked to get it on the road! Happy turkey day to all you hot rodders. I decided to start mine off with hand sewing the top back together on the roadster. Already stabbed myself twice in three inches lol.
Check out those skinny belts. I wore one with two buckles. Of course, today it would look like a strand of spaghetti around my "extended" waist. Cool pictures. Many memories.
q Great meeting you! I love your chevy! Next year for sure! I could have pushed it but I was kind of burned out from the 34 build. So I took a minute to breath lol
Not that it means anything, but I like the extended wheelbase too. That's one of the many things which set your car apart from all the others.
So I know I should probably paint this car and I am not saying I wont. In fact I used to do body and paint at a couple different hot rod shops for a living. My biggest worry is if I paint it won't it look like another repopped body. I don't want to take away from the soul of the car. I am open to some words of wisdom
I'd get it running, driving, stopping safe, fix all the things, and drive it that way for a year or two. The car will tell you if it wants new paint.
Be careful son as I just let myself be peer pressured into painting my car before I've hardly begun. I too use to paint cars for a living. It's funny how coming from that world to now where none of that matters to me. Soul and history for me will always beat out shiny paint. I'm not saying great paint jobs don't look good to me. I'm only saying its not what makes a car great or a pleasure to own and drive. X2 on paint it later, when the two of you have had to time to stretch your legs and take it all in. Then it will be the right choice. Good luck
