Just bought a 55 Chevy wanna go g***er need and info n pics on how to do a straight axle build using a 55 truck axle , also what steering box would I use thanks

  2. Box is easy, *truck axle truck box as far as installation just search straight axle on here. It may not get you 55 truck specifically but it will get you enough information to figure it out.

here is a pic of a setup like you have described unless you go full box frame stub like is popular with the newstalgia crowd.

*the 55 car box will probably also work if you go cross steer.

    Thanks looks nice

  4. LOL its pretty shade tree but that is how it used to get done for the most part.

There were actually way more independent front end five fives raced then straight axle cars, they were not hard to lift.

Take a look at Road Farmer's '55 build, I think he is using a TF truck axle on that gorgeous piece of metal.

You can go to the Tri-Five Chevy forum also, a separate section on g***ers, dozens of builds using Chevy pickup axles. Best of luck

Depending on your motor location you might need to notch the oil pan.
