Starting to think about a wire harness for the truck. I see different ones advertised with a number of Circuits . require a GM connector for steering. Speedway , Painless , American Auto wire . I was thinking between 15 and 20 circuits . The price also vary . I know you get what you pay for. Any advice on product and number of circuits. I will be running a electrical fan / Sterio / Maybe air down the road.. 305 engine th350 trans. has a carb. Thanks
DO NOT GO TO RON FRANCIS!...........EZ works well. very simple . I like the bigger fuse panel (like GM)....over their compact mini fuse. unless space is an issue. Have at it.
Always leave room for expansion it will be easier now to lay out the wiring then later, the extra wiring for the A/C can be rolled up under the dash
I used American Autowire in my 53 chevy truck .. Very pleased with it an everything you need to wire entire truck is in kit.. All light sockets light switch ignition switch dimmer switch an uses a gm type full size fuse block...
I used a Kwik Wire in my Ford and I liked it. The Rebel 9+3 is nice too. Kwik Wire tipped my hand since I could download the instructions before I bought it.
I used a 21 circuit Speedway kit, complete in every way. Well marked wire, instructions and drawings excellent, everything needed such as switches , terminal ends, wire ties and the best part it only cost me $149 with free freight. Check for speedway coupons when ordering. All in all a very simple system to install and uses all GM plugs which are included.
Thanks for all the different options will check them out. Speedway discontinued this one. They mentioned a new one is coming out in January . Not sure where it is made.
I used Bob Miller's Rebel Wiring in my avatar, went pretty well, also used his wiring in a 1950's Chris Craft boat I wired, worked great, very affordable.
I think I will go with American Wire Highway 22 seems like a good package. Little more pricey but you get the light switch etc. Thanks
Haven't used a Francis in a bit. customer brought me one the other day. Good Gawd , what an ass backwards way to wire a vehicle. mount the box ...then go to the terming point (coil, alt, lite , etc) then run backwards to the panel , crimp terminate there. way harder to make a neat harness. access to panels once mount,(usually up in hard to reach places) way harder to do the work. wires running in and out that could have been avoided by just routing to the point of use under the hood. Just ridiculous. Have a TPI panel to mount....the damn thing is a foot long...... counted over 45 wires to route out thru firewall. are you kidding me, Oh yes, and ass backwards from termination back to panel. Terrible Product
