I am getting ready to buy a brake line kit for my wagon but it seems all the ones I have found are for 4 doors. Do you think a 2 door car set would work on my Ranch Wagon? I think the wheel base is the same and the only thing I can think of that is different is the rear axle which shouldn't pose a problem.
I am about to do the Brakes on my 53 ford. Planning on going to Auto Quest & Purchasing a 25 Foot Roll of Brake Line. Part Number CNC-325 Easy to Bend & Flare. Will Not Rust! Can Be Painted with Aluminum Paint where you See it for Looks. Buy New Fittings for a Complete Job.
I think the 4-door kit would work. At the worst you'd have to deal with the one line that runs the length of the car.
I had originally ordered a full ss set from inline tube. I was more than a little surprised at the quick delivery since they are all made to order(shipped out the next day!), but i was particularly impressed with the quality. It was just a beautiful set of lines. As it turned out, I changed up so many things I couldn't use any of it forward of the firewall. I'd at least get a price from them to see what the current cost is. I'm with Bob, btw, can't see how a 4 dr would be different from a 2 dr.....'57's we do have 2 different wheelbases, but it's Custom vs. Fairlane, not anything else.
This is for a Ford wagon: http://www.cl***ictube.com/catalogs...&box=&engine=&ymm_cat=Complete Brake Line Kit
This company has all kinds of pre-bent lines for fuel and brakes: http://www.cl***ictube.com/catalogs...&cab=&ton=&duty=&drive=&box=&engine=&ymm_cat=
Nice that you can get all that stuff pre-made. Like Tex, my lines are all custom, north of the firewall.
Aside from all the obvious advantages of going this route, you get all the little add-ons like protective sleeves and springs that you most likely wouldn't/couldn't do making the lines yourself. Not a whole lot of difference in $ from plain steel to stainless either in the kits. Big difference if your buying materials since the only "easy" way to fab with corrosion protection is the expensive NiCopp lines.
Did a little checking and according to Automobile Catalog the 2 door and 4 door are the same wheelbase. Surprised me a little bit. I would have bet the 4 door was longer. So I'm going to order a kit from Cl***ic Tube in stainless.
Will do. It will be a while. I've been slow on progress on this. I pulled the 6 cylinder and all the front suspension. Steering box comes out tomorrow and dropping the rear axle to pull the springs to put new bushings and pads between them. Oh and fixed the front crossmember. I may start a build thread soon.
Just recently received my lines from Inline Tube for my 59 and was very happy with the quality. As Bobss396 said, the one that runs from front to rear is a real bear to install! Never occurred to me that the lines are installed before the body is mounted.
