After 50+ years the Strokers Car Club returns to Tampa. The Strokers C.C. founded its roots in early hot rods, and customs on the streets and drag strips around central Florida. The old Club is dedicated to preserving traditional hotrods and customs. With the help of a handful of surviving members we are bringing a piece of Tampa Car Culture back. If anyone has information or knows of surviving members of the original Strokers C.C., Block Busters C.C., Stockers C.C., or the Nifty 50's C.C. please let us know. Also any old photographs of early hotrods/ customs around the bay area and drag strips are much appreciated. We are trying to preserve and bring back the Tampa Bay area early hotrod culture. Look for us at your local cruise in or show!
Keep the tradition going. There are still some original members from the St. Louis Strokers from the '50s, probably reading this. deChrome
We have recasted the original plaques and are taking on new members. Here are a couple of our members cars.
Hey!!! How come they're not doing that in CA.? A few old clubs had attempted to 'rekindle', but one in particular wanted to be centered around my shop. Too many 'gratis jobs' (big ones) soured me on belonging to a 'club' where I was janitor, bartender, service monkey, mechanic, and overall benefactor. With an ongoing 'open house'!
just ran across your post, you should check with Don Garlits. He has several of the Strokers Tampa car club plaques in his Museum hang on the wall and a few of his cars. He is also from the Tampa Bay area and was there in the 50s before he moved up to Ocala in 57. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
