I've been holding this for a couple of days... Most of you know Reggie. He's the salt of the earth and one of the best people I know. He's also the ultimate hot rodder... Anyway, the other day he sent me a photo of him at 16 years old working in his parents driveway on a '40 truck he still owns: That my friends is an instant cl***ic!
Well how cool is that. I always look for his stiff in Joplin, never get around to see him any place else. Always top notch stuff and a genuine all around good fella.
Reggie needs to get that truck out of his dad's garage and get it back on the road. And you're right...nicest guy I know.
I've never had the pleasure of meeting Reggie but from the guys that I know that are acquainted with him they say the same thing as Ryan, salt of the earth. His interest in Deuces makes him even cooler in my book. HRP
Very cool! I haven't seen Reggie in several years now, but sure appreciated his hospitality every time I made the roundup.
That's some cl***ic Reggie for sure! Great picture. He'll never 'high hat' ya. Great hospitality and a stand-up guy. Thanks for sharin' the photo!
Maybe he can chime in on the story surrounding the truck. In a nut shell, he built a garage in his dad's back yard before they had neighbors. New neighbors buy the lot, put up a fence and basically trap the 40 in the back yard. I believe it's still there. I may have totally butchered the story. It's been a while since he told me.
Reggie Hill is a cl*** act and one of the coolest cats I know. He has great taste and always has sweet rides and a sweet at***ude. Viva Reg
Wow! I'm honored guys. This is humbling. A little on the truck: My mom would incent me to make straight A's by buying me an Old Car Auto Trader at the end of each 6-weeks and then taking me to see a couple of the cars for sale in Central Texas....with pretty much no money in any of our pockets. We'd pull up to the door, my mom or dad would explain to owners the deal, and these strangers would always let this pre-teen in to view their cars. After no more than 15 mins, we'd give our thanks and I'd be set for another 6-weeks. In the sixth grade, this 40 showed up in the Auto Trader. A mechanic at Leigh Johnson Ford (6th & Lamer....I think its now wholefoods) owned it. To my parents surprise, the man struck a deal with me. He allowed me to pay for the truck over time. After about a year and $80 of payments, he did the math and told me to just come and get the truck! Fast forward to the picture: I ***embled and dis***embled that truck a 100 times in that backyard. Same with that 351W. Shortly after that pic was taken, my dad and I built a 1-car shop in the back. The garage door opened to the empty lot next door. Off to college i went. Years later my dad tells me that a house is going up in that lot. Next they ran a fence 3 foot from my garage door. No problem, we'll tear down the north wall and get it out when I was ready for it. Years after that, he warned me that he was installing a pool and told me to come get the truck. I guess I took too long so now a swimming pool blocks the south wall. So it just sits......
Truck run ? ... check ! Cordless drill ? ... check ! Full moon ? ... check ! I'm chuckling thinking of tire tracks magically appearing under a still immaculate fence in your neighbors yard one evening. Of course your call if you wanna' punch it.
So you do still have the truck....priceless man!! Way too neat. Hats off to Mom and Dad too, they knew what they were doin'. Gonna have to get a 'Then and Now' picture pair one o' these days.Great stuff.
I have heard over and over how genuine Reggie is, but somehow I have yet to meet this guy.. Looking forward to that day!
