  4. Here's my '37 21 stud. Stock bore, top end is seized up but the valley is full of oil and sludge and i imagine the bottom end isn't too different so if i can hole saw the pistons it should at least turn over.

I've got the same ally heads on it, along with an Edelbrock Super Dual manifold for it and a crab dizzy. Still need to find a 2 bolt timing cover.

  5. From memory yes on the four bangers, don't know about V8-60. These guys - www.montereyspeedandsport.com - have quite a few rare reproductions and a few 21 stud and V8-60 in the mix. Aside from them the only other aftermarket 21 stud stuff is the super rare copper Federal Mogul heads. Or the Ford aluminium that we have.. not quite aftermarket but not "stock cast iron" as such.

I just sold my Av8 project. It has a '37 21 stud engine. The buyer has found some new Sharp alloy heads made by H&H Flatheads. They look real good. I looked all over for aftermarket heads and couldn't find any.

HAD A PAIR OF CYCLONE HEADS, TRADED THEM TO KEVIN FOR A PAIR OF HIS FIRST 24 STD. HEADS YEARS AGO. JUST PUT A EARLY EDLBROCK SLINGSHOT ON MY 8BA BLOCK , A LOT OF HOLES DONT LINE UP, WERE THESE MANIFOLDS MADE FOR THE 21 STUD HEADS? ARE THE INTAKE BOLTS DIFFERENT ON 59AB AND 21 STUD?

For some reason, the 8BA's don't use as many bolts on the intake as the earlier engines. I've never had a problem with an 8BA having excessive vacuum leaks. Any of you accountant types out there able to figure out how much money Ford saved by not drilling and tapping 4 bolt holes on millions of engines?

The guy who bought my AV8 roadster lives in England and emailed me about a stash of 21 stud parts he could buy. There were some of these Allard heads there. The big problem was he had to buy a whole shed full of parts to get them. As he is moving to Australia soon he didn't buy the parts but it is very interesting they even existed.

not sure but it might have had more to do with no longer using aluminum manifolds from the factory...

Found these in a friend's lockup. Not got a motor to put them on, so they're going up on my wall!

  24. Thanks 303!

It takes a lots of searching and saving! Then after you find what you need, you don't pass it up!
Believe me, my parts were all purchased at different times in the span of a few years!

it's kind of funny that this thread came up. i have been thinking about building a '23 t gow job and have a very nice '33-'34 motor with the stock ally heads. i also have the whole running gear. everybody tells me to use the later motors but this motor is in excellent shape. doesn't really need anything so i will probably use it. i don't need it to have any race stuff in it so no machining is required.
