Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has any tips or pointers on removing the shaft lock pin on the clutch/brake pedal ***embly on a 52 chev. I'm trying to remove the clutch pedal but I can't seem to be able to remove the lock pinto free it from the master cylinder. I've tried using stiff wire to remove it like the manual says but it doesn't seem to be working. Thanks in advance guys!

Towards the front of the bosses the brake/clutch pedal pivots p*** through, is a "****** like" hex-headed stud that needs to be removed. Then, take a cotter pin with a bend at the end to slip in, and under the retaining block; it's a very small block. After the block is removed, the pivots can then be pushed out of the bosses. There may be a picture or two to help you see the procedure better than my description, over on ChevyTalk.Org in the 49-54 forum. Of course, it's not easy to get to, let alone even see what you're doing. When we did the master cylinder rebuild on the 51 Bus Coupe, we loosened the master cylinder up to get a little more working space, very little more. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

I bathed it in PB blaster when a wire would remove it and then had a friend grab it with a pair of needle nose pliers while I worked or rocked the pedal arms. Moving the pedal arms around released the pin.

While it might take a little force to get out, be careful not to break it. Mine came out in 2 pieces.
