T-5's, ac from mini vans, ford bronco 9", but NO INTEREST in hot rods with 1930's and 40's artillery wheels. Wow.
Don't have any pictures but I've always enjoyed artillery wheels on pickups.. What's the history behind them? What is a decent set worth? I apologize I'm fairly wet behind the ears in hot rodding..
Not a fad! They've been popular with the bomb (old school lowriders) crowd for years and it's only in the past couple years that the repop ones hit the market. FYI, you can't use a stock hubcap on the repops.
I kind of see what you mean by 'fad' but they are the real deal, I scored a set of 1935-1936 Chevy 6 hole 17" rims that I will be using on my '49 Chevy 1/2 ton. I did a search of course and I saw a thread of a hot rod with off white artillery rims with white walls that knocked it out of the park. Just looking for some pictures cause there doesn't seem to be much out there.
Wow, those are hot! Just did a google image search and came up with a bunch. https://www.google.com/search?hl=en......1ac.1.64.img..0.24.784.5AZJqoJu6y8#imgrc=_
I am a fan of the wide five Ford artillery wheels. I make adapters and adapter covers for them to be used on modern rear end. I do them in 5x4-1/2, 5x4-3/4, 5x5-1/2. I will post some pictures when I get home as they are on my computer. For now you can just look at my avatar.
Home run either way ^^^^ !!! I'd Have the two sets as well, especially the radial tires for the big miles. I'd like to see a picture of those off-whites w/ ww's at night, cool.
Nice wheels. It seems lots of people use trim rings with the artilleries. I'm thinking one stripe at the stem and maybe scallops around the wheel.
