I was going to rant about my latest dealings with Marty at North West Speed and how my dealings still are, but that dead horse needs to be buried!

I will just say one last thing before I move on from N.W.S....
Marty can think he became a “business man” as he says, bring on new people and move into new buildings…but it's my opinion that the promises, stories and lines to me from North West Speed will never change. Enough said.

…so I'll try to turn this post positive.
With Nailhead’s being my # 1 engine of choice and having several to work with, I will be buying parts for the years of hot rod builds I have yet to come. A lot of you guys have posted the names of different companies that are selling Nailhead stuff, so I know there’s a lot of companies and honest guys out there.
I was hoping some of you could come back and post the names of places you’ve used and had good honest dealings with for Nailhead parts. The places you’ve actually dealt with and would deal with again.
I’m sure a lot of us Nailhead people would appreciate the names handy all in one thread.
Thanks, LSM

I've had good luck with Postons in Atmore, AL on Nailhead cam, they are into Skylarks mostly but went the extra distance to get what I needed.
I also recomend Joel at Auto-fleet parts and Machine 2551 Halls Mill Road Mobile, AL. 1-251-478-8441 for Nailhead or any other motor rebuild. Joel did my 56 322" motor and new not to try and make it a SBC rebuild, he does most of the racing motors in Mobile area.

I'm guessing you're already on the NailHeadBuick group on Yahoo...the info, sources, etc on that board is like gold...several guys on there know the nailhead inside and out...not to hijack your thread, but looking at your screen name, you got a nail in a Merc? Wanting to put a 401 in my 51,got the 61 exhaust manifolds, using the stock Merc front end stuff .not sure about steering box clearance, and would like P/S if there's room...What are you running? Stick or auto? Thanks,Bill

Any more Nailhead sources you recommend (or sources to avoid) we can add to the list?

10. Shameless Plug

Well you know that specific to the Nailhead we make the finned aluminum valley cover that others have knocked off as well as the finned aluminum spark plug covers and a finned aluminum fuel pump block off. And of course we have dozens of other matching finned aluminum air cleaners and engineaccessories. But you've been here so you knew that;)

End of plug

I hope T/A Performance didn't get put in the "don't count on" category because of me. I said "don't count out", i.e. they are putting more and more stuff out for Nailheads all the time. I have had good luck with them. I just needed to clarify this...

And yes by all means buy your dressy stuff from O'Briens...:D:D:D

Dennis, We could never forget you. I'm putting a Nailhead in the 37 Chevy project, so I'll see you at your open house for some more goodies!
I've got some of Dennis's stuff on the Nailhead in my C-dan also. Real nice quality and a great guy to deal with!

zman, thanks for catching my mistake on T/A Performance. I corrected it in the list.

Just to clarify, I added a couple Buick sources to the list just to help people locate parts. As we all know, you can't have too many sources. I have absolutely nothing against North West Speed.

l don't know about you guys but lve been dealing with Marty at Northwest Speed for about 3 yrs now and he's always been helpful and annest to me.
Plus he's always been a stand up kind of guy to me.
lve never hand any problems with the quality or getting my parts.Thats more than l can say for some of the other people that l have come in contact with through the years.
Trust me lve been buying and selling parts, for cars for many years...:)

Good list, Merc. I had no trouble with Egge and Kanter for standard rebuild parts. Got my bellhousing from NW. It was a bit slow but it did come, thanks Marty. Still waiting for my flywheel.

Just my .02 cents worth. Almost on the road with a completely rebuilt 401. Used Kanter auto for a complete engine kit, took them 4 times to get me the right parts. Sent .030 over pistons and .040 over rings, .010 under mains and standard rod bearings, wrong water pump, and their tech guy argued with me about the size of the engine said I had a 364. Been working on this 2 1/2 years. Pretty sure it's a 401. Had to write them a letter to get the correct parts.
Avoid Kanter!
Have had good luck with T/A Performance.
Poston Buick.
Mixed results with NWS great parts but slow at times.

Nuff said.........

58sled, the list thats earlier in the thread is up to date except for yours so far.
Have you done business with all of these people, because I'm trying to only list the shops that HAMBers have used and are satisfied with and would recommend?
