was given a 1997 ford******* with a 302 5.0 HO. Any tip on stuffing it in my 53 mainline, computer and all..? Looking at the bottom it looks like a rear sump pan as the front goes over the rack and
Maybe get in touch with James the guy that bought your Butch's kit he took a fair amount of pictures when he did the swap. But he stayed "traditional" no computer, there is probably a lot of info on the computer part here:http://www.corral.net/ Also the forum at www.sbftech.com would be a good source.
He did use the earlier 1966-69 "short" water pump and matching Mustang radiator you may want to address that with him as I gave him a lot of advice on facebook to help with some issues. The HEDMAN 88400 headers worked really well for clearance pictures and are on the last page of the "sticky faq" He also used an AOD transmission.
If your talking about an OEM computer and motor I did that very thing. it requires you remap the computer to get rid of the things you won't be using. Third an forth oxygen sensor, pats, egr are not needed to put an efi engine in your car. The other requirement is a high pressure fuel system. It takes a little thought but once it's done, no tune up, tunes itself, better all around performance. I can put you in touch with EFI Guy who can remap your computer and set it up for hotter performance .
Are you going to be using the Ford EECIV wiring harness that works with the factory computer? If so, you may want to look at a PIMP. These are sold by Stinger on his website. It comes with tuner studio that will tune as you drive. I have one in my 88 T-Bird Turbo Coupe that is my daily driver. I also had one of these in my 90 Mustang SC Highway Patrol car. http://stinger-performance.com/
