Anyone know about this little red roadster, seen in two images on the upper deck of a transporter posted by SWI66 on the Vintage Photo thread? The photos are posted with other images of period car shows, but I'm not sure if there is a way to connect what cars appeared in what shows, given the haphazard way images on that thread are posted. It looks like a hot rod / sports rod, but also has a bit of a dune buggy look to it (not a great thing). Anyone? Thanx, Gary From page: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/vintage-shots-from-days-gone-by.428585/page-3483
judging by the age of the truck and stuff in the back ground, I don't think kit car...........looks like a 36 Ford rear fender, bet it is a home made sports car.
Cant id the red roadster, but the balance of the cars on that truck that I do recognize are from the Vancouver area, sixties era. Think the sectioned shoebox is Ted Baxters? Would be easier to id if I could see the grill/headlights. That's Glen Morrows "Iron Termite" at the top front, the rp behind it possibly Phil Doyles '27? The channeled '32 is Jim McGowans "Apache", Court Elliots chopped chevy on the top row. Hemideuce or BCHRA guy might be able to help out here?? Or that guy from Saskatchewan with the T touring probably knows, but I forget his screen name.
I checked the original thread you linked to, this is not Phil Doyles car, in the bigger photo, you can clearly see its an A. I know that fordor behind Baxters car too, the name might come to me.
amazing how fast that an obscure photo can bring many results - still looking for info on the red roadster
the roadster was built by 2 brothers--Rick and Ron Ross in the 60's in Burnaby BC--they built it while in high school-it started out as a Skoda--all work was done by them including paint--they still own the car and occasionally drive it
Well, if you happen to be over that way... we'd appreciate it. I'd even chip in for gas $$$. Thanx, Gary
