One of the things I love about swap meets is making contacts. Yesterday I met a fella as we were sitting in a dairy barn out of the rain. We swapped all kinds of great stories. He mentioned that before hot rods, he worked at a place restoring WWII aircraft. I asked him if he knew where to find some bomber seats. His words "yeah, I know where there is a whole pile of them. Probably be sold as scrap." We talked a little about them and got sidetracked. I could kick myself for not getting his full name and number. I did get the name of the place where he currently works and lives (small town west of FW) so I am pretty sure I could track him down.

So, what kind of bomber seats do people look for? How much do they typically cost? If I can find the guy, perhaps I can get him to sell them. I don't if they are his or someone else's so no guarantee.

Depending on the size I would definately be interested in a pair if you find them and are willing to share.

Well git to trackin' him down Frank...and bring a camera. There were many different types of aircraft seats made. Some are too big for cars, for example, the real Bomber planes had large seats. The type you want for cars is WWII Trainers or fighter plane seats. They were smaller, like the ones I have. Don't let this slip through your fingers.

Right! Don't look back in a few years and say I should've followed up on those seats! (like we all have) Even if they're too big for a rod, i'd buy a couple for my shop.

Last summer at an aircraft auction, I found a bunch of seats ranging from crew-type to some very elaborate cockpit stuff. I about fell over at the prices they were commanding and got outbid on everything. However there were no bomber seats like the ones 3W Larry posted. I think Speedway has (imported?) seats in their catalog. I wonder if the market demand is such that someone won't start making repros as a cottage industry.

There is a guy that is making look alikes out of steel. He auctions them on the other place (you know where). I am actually thinking of having him make me a bench looking bomber seat to fit my car.
