..Hi I am looking for the measurement from the center of the front cross member to the face of the firewall on a 1932 ford coupe stock frame......The reason I need the measurement is because the body is off the frame and I am trying to get the under the floor master cylinder bracket in place on the frame......I am hoping I don't have to get 5 people to put the body on the frame and off again to get the distance,.....thanks for any help miller
Isn't your firewall separate from your body? Do you still have the K member? What kind of master cylinder bracket are you using? How about some pictures? Charlie Stephens
If stock firewall, measure based on firewall tensioning bolt holes or other body holes... http://www.wescottsauto.com/WebCatalog/Tech/FrameDiagram1932.pdf If not stock firewall and body...question cannot be answered without access to your particular pile of parts!
The master ch***is print does not give a centerline of the front crossmember. I can give you two dimensions. The first is from the very tip of the front frame rail to the centerline of first firewall mounting hole and that dimension is 43 and 7/8" . The other dimension I can give you is, from the centerline of the front crossmember radiator mounting hole to the centerline of the front firewall mounting hole and that is 30 and 1/32". The firewall mounting pad holes are 2 and 1/2" centerline to centerline.
...Thanks for the many replies,....I think I will be able to work with the info Woodiewagon46 posted,...thanks again miller
......Hi I checked my frame and from the measurements you gave my measurements are 1 inch longer then the ones you give............. the 1st you give 43 7/8 I got 44 7/8,.....................the 2nd you give 30 1/32 I got 31 1/32..,...the bolt spacing measurement was as you gave 2 1/2 ...can the frames be that much off from one to another?....thanks miller
No the frames can't be that far off. That type of discrepancy would stop the ***embly line. Charlie Stephens
..I will check again making sure to do it correct,....I let you know what I find,...thanks again miller
I just went out to my garage where the print is hanging on my wall and rechecked all the measurements. It starts from the front and works back with every hole such as hood straps, fender mounts etc. I did the math and the numbers are correct. Is it a stock ch***is? No they can't be far off from frame to frame. By the way, the measurements are taken on a straight line, not along the curve of the front frame horns. If you are interested I can check and see how much it would cost to copy the print. I would have to find a place first.
Just go to the Wescott site and print it out or if he doesn't have a printer he could just note down the relevant dimensions.
..I found a copy put out by wescotts of the frame,..I will check it again...thanks for the info and help...miller
