Thank you for posting blueprints... You are correct... This car has a belly pan that hangs well below the rails. That is where you sit!

As you can see in this pic... The floor is barrel shaped, partially due the fact that the rear trans cross member, is actually an inverted rear ModelA cross member. The top of the hump in the middle is pretty much level with the top of the frame....you can see just how deep between the rails the floor is set. All the floor fabrication is fairly well done (for the time period) when I sit in it... My line if sight is just over the cowl!

Yea! I am getting that!! It is real easy to cut someone's car up when you are hiding behind a keyboard! It's funny... I was always taught.. "If you can't say something nice.... Don't say anything at all"!

  8. Well said!

Passion and making something happen two things that seem to missing from the world today.

Great find and story watching this one!

  9. Did it ever run at Utica-Rome Dragway?

I think Utica-Rome Drag strip opened in the early sixties.

Ran next to the 1/4 paved oval track.

Hi... Not sure about racing it there.... But you actually have pics of another car that the original builder built on your event coverage of a vintage race car show... The builder is Leroy "Bud" Hinman... You have a pi of his '69 yellow sprint car!

That's an incredible find, almost unbelievable that you were actually able to find and talk to the man who built this car as a kid.

  12. I am friends with Bud.

It is (was?) a 34 Ford 3 window.

Bud was a good sportsman and modified driver in central N.Y.

    Have you talked to him?

  14. Wow, just caught up with what went on since my last post on page one.
    Freakin incredible!

Eli, were all adults here, sometimes some don't think before posting, but brush it off and carry on regardless.
When I joined at the start of 09, there was a hardarse element left over from what I gather was a no bullshit time in the early 2000s. I've watched the Hamb become way more mellow, and dare I say it, PC.
Nowadays Ryan has got it reigned in a lot more, but there will always be opinions that may not be agreeable, because that's life. It would be boring if it were otherwise.
I love most all the pre 64, 65 content, but I'm more a late 20s early 30s fan, and this type of Real survivor thread rocks my boat.
Not only are they few and far between, but to find and meet the original builder, is pure gold.

So thank you sir, don't you dare let any negative content scare you away, just get on with what you do best, and please continue to share with us.
Thanks again to yourself, and Pete.

  15. LOL I was taught to speak my mind. But I was always thought that you shouldn't say anything behind someone's back that you were not man enough to say to their face.

I find not being genuine to be a little plastic, but there is an upside, one always knows where they stand with me.

Now back to the car, I am digging the seat wells. I have mentioned that before to guys who don't think that they will fit in their car. Now there is a perfect example of what I have been saying. This little car is going to be fun.

This is how low I sit in the car this pic was just taken at my home in NH, this afternoon... The hood and hubcaps are my addition... As well as the 750/16 rear tires... That Bud Hinman said were the size that he had on it!

That car is just TOO MUCH! (How LOW can you GO?)
Think I'd add a 1/4 " skid plate under my ass ! Safety first!
You're a lucky duck ( but it ended up in the right place for sure)
And to have the original builder on board, and all this cool history showing up is really something.
Good for you! and a Merry Christmas too.

  23. i wonder if he planned for some spring cushions or thick foam? at 13 he was probably not big and i would guess he couldn't see over the cowl when sitting.

Merry Christmas Eli. I don't post much but I can't help but post on this car. I've always been a fan of the hard channeled roadster even though I'm from the west coast. But I've got to say that the inside out frame is a stroke of brilliance from someone of any age but 13...... sheesh!

I've been saying for many, many years.... just look to our Hot Rod history for all things, they have done it all, and there cars are way cool.

Please let me know where I can follow along on the re-birth (please don't say instantgram ... don't do that stuff) ...but I do the Facebook :)

People forget not everyone has a family member who is into cars, a machine shop, or an accomplished builder to farm out the hard stuff to. Cars like this are much more of a feat than lots of famous survivors that are the product of a fortunate son's connections and dough. Looking forward to it's completion.
