Suggestion from a buddy who built the fireball generator on the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland:

Fill a tank with propane, then over-pressurize it with your airbag compressor. A large diameter solenoid valve electrically hooked in parallel with your ignition source should give BIG results. He said that he got balls of 15 foot diameter at only 25psi.

"These men are professionals. Don't try this at home, kids!"

    PLEASE EXPLAIN!
fill the tank up and add compressed air???? more info please

Tuck that is your car? I can never remember who owns what these days. All I know is I liked the pic so I hijacked it (hope you don't mind) Got more pics of that car with flames coming out? I'm sure everyone would love to see them.

Tuck, I went with the "Kit"(home made) because I was worried about killing the ignition on my Desoto, by running 2 coils off 1 distributor. I have a switch operated relay that kills the ignition and sends battery power to the box. This way the amperage draw from the throwers is straight off the battery and not part of my charging circuit. I burned up 5 or so regulators before this and none since.
I may try your set up on my Buick...

  6. Before I say anything about parts, be prepared to rebuild your engine.

I've seen a kit that uses an HEI distributor. It has the coil built in, all you have to do is electrify it & spin it. You can theoretically run 8 plugs.

The kit I have uses a Harley coil with 2 wires running out of it. There is just the innards from a distributor & electronic points mounted on an electric motor. This is the neatest, smallest kit that works well. My box is about 6x6x3. I don't have to cut my ignition because I ran the hot wire directly to my battery (fused of course). I can light up by revving & turning the key off(turn it back on before you kill the motor-do NOT kill the motor - you can suck the flames up to your motor) Another way is to pull your manual choke & pump the gas. The trick again is not to kill the motor. If it starts to die, you need to push the choke in & keep the motor going. A trick to make the fire more crowd-pleasing is to put brake rotor/drum cuttings in your pipes - it makes sparks. In any case, be careful who & what is behind you. I've had the my old club president line me up to do the fire, & had my turned-up heater duct pipes pointed at his father-in-law's '59 Caddy, knowing I had sparks ready. Of course, I shot sparks across the aisle, & onto his hood.

  7. And this is what it looks like without sparks. I have 4" & about 17" cans from brockman's in IN. The plugs are about 2-3" in from the ends & in this photo, I have 4" heater duct elbows added on with self-tapper screws. The more gas you can get to the pipes, the bigger the fire. I pump the gas very fast, full strokes.
Another warning: If you ever do a lot of fire, be prepared & have plugs & oil change in your trunk. By the way, I'm replacing the motor in my car over the winter. Don't go nuts & watch out for Johnny Law - it's illegal except on private property with the owner's permission.

Sorry to dig up the dead but I was wondering if an A.I.R. injection system would make a system work better? Feeding fresh air in to the tips?

What about using an old salimander heater injection system

  12. This is a Very very old thread,Every poster here has different ideas, and NONE the simplest way..
We ran flame throwers back in the late 40s using ONLY a modle T coil and a spk plug in the end of tail pipe...to operate just turn ign key off.pull choke a little ways out, turn on modle T coil..Instant flames
