Looking good...IMHO these 49-54 Chevys are as cool as the Tri-5s... When I was a youngster Dad had a 53 Chevy. Wish I still had it today, would make a great stable mate for my 60 Vette....
Pics of starter wires would help. It has a different symptom now that you changed the starter. Im guessing the battery possitive cable to solonoid is not connected right. Or the solonoid is not making a connection to the starter motor when it kicks out.
Not to insult your intelligence, but is the battery fully charged? If it is, check your cables and connections.
Very cool build, I love the '53-'54 Chevys too. It's not unheard of these days to get a bad starter right out of the box. If you've got a good 6V battery you can bench test it, (just make sure you've got it anchored down good) or take it to an auto parts house or auto electric shop and have it tested.
Haven't been able to work on the car much. Been working on other projects. Finally back on it and I've made a little progress. Also figured out that the starter I got isn't any good so looking for another one
Some more progress today. Working on the front and rear filler panels. Someone really made a mess of the front one. Underneath all the bondo it wasn't even that bad. Ran it through the English wheel and it's pretty good now
Thanks guys. Not a whole lot of visual progress but I have pretty much everything that's left ready for primer on Saturday. Happy new year
Great color combinations....wow..! Please lose the fishtail exhaust extensions....they're for motorcycles and look goofy on cars. How did you get those Caddy caps to fit....usually they are too deep to fit on anything but a Cadillac wheel.....? Again you have great taste in colors.
Car looks bad ass! I would love to see it outside in the sunlight because you have a hell of a color combo and it looks so smooth!
Thanks guys. The caddy caps usually fit I know the 56 caps are too deep but other years usually work fine. I can't wait to bring it out in the sunlight either! Soon enough. As for the fishtails, I love my fishtails and funky exhausts.
