Hi all, Forgive me if this is in the wrong section. I have to rebuild the front end on my 65 Bonneville, and I'm looking for suggestions on the best components (Ball joints, Bushes etc) I hear a lot of good and bad comments about all the suppliers so I'm a little confused as to which brand I should get. I'm hoping for made in USA parts but I realize this might be a challenge. Anyway, if anyone has any suggestions I'd be very appreciative Thanks
LOL I like Moog but Federal Mogul will do in a pinch. ( I think that they are the same company now anyway). They make two grades the offshore is cheaper. You should be able to get what you need at the NAPA store, you may have to tell the kid at the counter to step away from the computer. Kanter sells a pretty good product or they have in the past and they too should have what you are looking for, I know that some of their parts probably came from NAPA, we have one of NAPA's biggest warehouses in the country right here in the metro and they used to ship parts out to Kanter all the time from there. LOL Kanter will be easier, they have been known to stock quality parts and they have had good customer service in the past. If I were looking for parts and didn't want to deal with the idiots at the parts counter Kanter is who I would contact.
I did a quick search, seems like a great product, and CornfieldPerformance, I always heard moog where great but I'm getting some mixed reviews.
Moog used to be the best. Lately I'm hearing that they're chasing the cheaper parts sales and quality is dropping off. I had a set of Moog ball joints on my DD, lasted about three years. NAPA has cheap and expensive ball joints, get the expensive ones with the lifetime warranty. I'm running those now (4th set of ball joints on a 2001 Dakota) and so far they haven't failed, which is better than the factory, factory recall, and Moog replacements have done.
NAPAs top of the line parts, you cant really go wrong. Like PnB said, may have to deal with a idiot at the computer. I am kind of lucky, my store has some good parts people.
Most of the time I find what I want via their web site, then just send the order to the store so I can pick it up.
Another MOOG fan, happy to pay additional $$ for a better quality product especially when I live so far away. Freight is the same and I only wanted to do this once only and not multiple times as would be the case with cheaper inferior products.
Order Moog, look at the box and see where its made. If not up to snuff, throw it back at pimple puss and tell him to keep reordering until you get the right ****.
