I´m going to use this Saginaw steering on my American G***er.
Do you HAMBers have any idea where it had been when it was new?
It has casting number 263528. Is it from late 30´s? 1937?
Bolt holes don´t match Chevys or such...

I will negative comment once...You obviously are doing side steer and you are in for tons of steering issues with a drag link that short, unless your springs don't move at all or you be very lucky with the resulting geometry..

Suspension is about 3" too high in that pic. Now links are connected and geometry is OK.
I going to drop steering box lower, because I want to have nose up a little bit more. It looks better that way.

    "X2. I would do cross-steer."

I had a cross-steer links before. And front axle was a chromed tube.
I am going to have those in my next g***er project. This one is more show than go.
The next one is for show and GO, go, gone..

    It is like this now...

I believe that steering gear stays unknown...

Casting number on gear box is for a 1937 Chevrolet P***enger and sedan delivery (Master).

Thats a pretty crude gear box, straight gear on gear, 16:1 ratio. Be sure to check the sector shaft bushings, they wear causing free play in the draglink. The steering shaft has barrel shaped bearings on each side of the worm gear, the inner race is part of the lower worm gear, so if it's worn, you are SOL and will need a new whole new shaft. Bearings and bushings can be had at most Chevrolet restoration places, Chevsofthe40's or The Filling Station to name a few. My '37 truck used about the same box, just different mounting. The sector shaft has two bushings, you can add a third out towards the splines that will really tighten it up. The seal is common, GM used the same one on all manual gear boxes up through the late 70's. I use John Deere corn head grease in mine. It's a #00 self leveling grease very similar to the original grease, plus its cheap, less then $4.00 a tube from any John Deere dealer.
    Hope this helps.
