WHo's the smart*** that gave this ONE star? I mean this guy looks to be putting this truck together well. I don't dig the super low look myself. I like things so that I don't have to use a jack to change the oil.....but this truck looks like its being well built. Cool. Like others have said. Show some better pics! We wanna see details! Nice machine. P.S. I'm giving you some more stars.
Thanks for the positive and negative feedback.Yeah the motor could be allot lower its just that high for shock value. simply for looks. I plan to drive the car maybee not down the freeway. But definately around town. And if theres a drag strip around ill definately be there. I set some rules for the build you might be interested in. First of all I cannot buy anything new unless absolutely nececarry. so far only bought a grilleshell and a set of rear tires. I dont want it to be a peice of junk[poor crafstmanship]. I will make everything I can instead of buying it unless price becomes a factor. I have a frame jig and build all kinds of frames but I built this frame on the floor, Without the use of any of my fancy tools. Just a tape measure, square, and primative tools. No lasers or digital guages and yes I have them. I just want to have fun with this one. If its an eigth of an inch off so be it but I dont think it is. Although im not gonna check and see. Ill post more pics as I progress Peace out. James
Nice work, looks like a fun project. Where is your true ride height gonna be. I've built a low car or ten in my day, but I know that nothing can be left at a fixed ride height with the rockers and frame on the ground and driven. Is the back gonna be bagged, or is it just sitting on the ground for mock up?
I'm probably gonna bag the back only just becouse i dont want any bags muckin up the look of the front end. I kicked up the front of the frame like that so all i have to do is raise the rear and its drivable. If I can get it about 3 inches off the ground at ride height that will be fine the whole underskin is plated bigtime so I can drag it over things if needed. I just gotta try to hide the bags in the rear. Dont want to see them there either. Things are gettin tight in that thing real fast. I still gotta put a radiator in the back and a battery and some sort of fuel tank. and keep the top of the diff. under the bed
Hell yeah. If we all wanted 'practical' we'd all be driving Honda Civics. I think it is great, good design, tidy engineering, but I'd want to see three or four inches minimum clearance underneath when on the move. Dread to think what would happen if you got a blow out and end up riding the sparkly rooster tail on a ch***is rail at 60 per hour. Keep at it, I wanna see it finished.
Very cool. Yeah its amazing how quickly an empty frame fills up isn't it. It seems like there is so much room, then once you start mounting stuff up, it fills up fast. With a shortened bed you should be able to conceal the bags fine. A small sleeve bag like a firestone f9000 would give you nice lift(about 5-6")at ride height, and they ride nice on a light ***-ended vehicle. You could jack up the back 5 or 6" and see where that puts you ride height wise. Looks good, keep it up
What kind of tool do you use to make the large dimpled holes?? And where can I get one?? The truck looks awesome !!
You can piss all over this ride as much as you want style-wise, but you have to give props to the craftsmanship. I'm going to spend some serious time studying the pictures and seeing what I can learn from James. Take what you like, lump the rest, and move on. Are we playing the "violation game" here or what? My man put some serious work in and is talented. Acknowledge it.
its calledd a dimple die. Used in off road allot. Ive always had them. Check Irvan smith or Mittler bros.I think they sell them.
to each his own. do your own thing. never mind what others say it's your ride. you like it then it rules.
