a had few requests for plans for the hammer i built for about $60.so here goes material cut list: 1.5"x1.5"x.25"thick square tubing---2pcs@36" 1pc @3.5" 1pc @7" 5"x.25"thick plate----2pcs@9" 1pc @11" 1 harbor freight air hammer, you need to make sure its at least 3800-4600bpm,i have the $14.99 model,it works fine 2 exhaust clamps to hold the hammer to the 11" plate 3/4" nut and carriage bolts to make into the dolly of the hammer,it ground and filed mine and have a couple different contours. 1/2" turnbuckle i got mine from graingers for about $16 1/2" bolt and nylock nut for the hinge part 1 bungee cord to hold the turnbuckle from spinning when you're it. hopefully the pictures show you how it all goes together
not sure i understand what the turnbuckle is for? does the upper and lower arms pivot on the bolt in the center of the upright? if so how much adjustment does it give you? Thanks for the post and the idea.
the turnbuckle gives you room to work with different thickness metals plus it allows you to open it up to get to say an interior portion of the fender
Rich people have it done!!! Thus the Boyds, et al! but some folks make a nice livin off the rich folks, and that helps the world go 'round.
OK what I see is the hammer head is sto bought, the anvil is the one you made from carrage bolt. I see said the blind man, to his deaf wife, over the disconnected telephone. Once again, great job
If you put a locking nut on the threaded eye portion of the turnbuckle, you can probably lose the bungee cords
nothing fancy, just ground down the carraige bolts to different dome sizes and one i heated with a torch and pounded flat
