A 1960 Cadillac cowl vent in a 59 Chevy El Camino

A dude bought a cherry 60 Caddy flat top to The Misfire's Groundhog Gala show we put on in February, I looked at his cowl vent and thought, "that looks damn close in shape to the boring stamped steel one on my El Camino." So I found one on ebay cheap and bought it. Well it does fit, if you chop the last two fins on each side off, even the mounting holes match, although the outside two will need to be drilled. The contours to the firewall and hood match exactly.
I have never seen this done before. The 59 Caddys are totally different and 60 Caddy cowl vents aren't the easiest things to find either.
Anyway, here's some pics.

 

The Chevy wiper escutcheons will not fit, I'll have to hunt some Caddy ones down.

I just put a '60 caddy screen in my '60 elco. Lower window frame/rail was identical. Everything from there up had to be modified.

 

Great idea! It almost matches a '60 Merc grille, too.
