Any opinions on what is an easy rear end to put in a 36 Ford pickup. We will be converting to parallel leaf. Also wondering about insight regarding the s-10 transmission fitment. Will be keeping the flatty engine for now and switching the front to juice brakes.

I'm sure there are many opinions on this, but I've always used the '57-'59 ford rear. Getting hard to find now. I would look at the 8.8" rear out of the late ford ranger--should be easy to find.

I used an early ('66-'77) Bronco 9". In hindsight though, if I had to do it again, I would use the 8.8 Explorer.

2X the Ford 8.8, they are readily available in various widths and gear ratios. Also more compact and lighter than the Ford 9 inch. Go for the S10 trans in my humble opinion it is a great improvement.

Mine's got a Ford 8", retaining the transverse spring and (reinforced) 36 radius rods.

Hasn't failed yet, but it's mostly garage art.

  8. '74 Camaro 10 bolt under my '38, same basic frame as your '36. Used rear leaf springs and hangers out of an '80 Isuzu pickup.

8" Maverick with a Ch***is Engineering kit. It was a bolt in my '34.
