That's a great photo. Notice the reflection in the paint of the guys just watching...funny. I'm tring to figure out that chrome looking piece on the fender behind the antenae. Posibly a trim for spotlight that is no longer there? I'd sure love to see a pic of the full car (and the rest of the legs). I'm wondering about the "band" that runs around the car from the wing windows, under the driprail on the sides, then under the back window. I thought about painting that raised band an accent color, and it appears in this pic they may have done just that, or more likely, on this car posibly there was an aftermarket chrome add-on that I've never seen. Jeff, if you don't mind, I'd like to copythis pic and post it on the '57 forum to see if we can figure out what those pieces are.
Is there any info on the magazine posted on facebook? Date? I'd sure like to track down a copy of the magazine and frame it up.
That's exactly what they are. eBay has a bunch of them, both LH and RH for prices ranging from a bargain to the ridiculous.
Well guys,I found this little bit of information. HRP These photos taken by Francis Miller for Life Magazine of an all-girls hot rod club called “The Dragettes” in what appears to be 1950s Kansas City. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find much information on these ladies — which is frustrating because they seem pretty awesome. I don’t think these pictures were used in the magazine (or at least I couldn’t find the article they correspond to), and the interwebs has not been very forthcoming either. In any event, I still wanted to share — they’re just so great, from the matching jackets to kissing babies on the dragstrip.
Thanks for doing the research and posting the pictures, lucky guys that married a "car gal" ! Hard woman to find.
Those are some awesome pics, HRP...thanks. Note the first pic of the '57 is not the same pic as the one that Jeff posted...close, but the cutie looking over the hood is no longer there. Also, the pic of the group working on the ******...the 1st one on the left is the one under the car in the first pic. Shoes!
I'd love to read a build thread on that one! awesome metalwork...posibly a limited production by a coach build company, like for ambulance, or??? I wonder if it's got a tailgate, and if it does...a 3 piece back window?
I wish there was a shot from the rear also,it almost looks like two roofs were grafted together and used a regular sedan rear gl***.
Don't see any kind of door or hatch seam around the back window. Would be nice if there were any other pictures. Nice work whoever did it if it's real.
I looked through Google images and no luck on the wagon in post #101 it was in a facebook group I'll keep looking. Here's one I like the body work but the wheels ****.
Of the hundereds of older cars I've seen with the huge wheels and rubber band tires, there have been very very few that I almost like...that ain't one of them. Now, that Ford Limo would make a neat camper...just needs a pop-up!
Check this out for the 1952 model the 1954 is on the next page. http://funeralcoaches.com.au/history-of-australian-he****s-featured2.html
