Love the chop. Nice work! I thought those were '40 Pontiac grilles when you first introduced them, but hadn't seen a '40 Desoto in a very long time, so....who knew?

Maybe it's just the camera angle....or my old eyes, but the space between the upper, outer, grill corners and the headlights looks different one side to the other.......?? Is the driver side headlight closer? May have occurred during fairing in the buckets?

Overall, great workmanship and will make a very cool Custom. Thanks for sharing all the details!

    thanks everyone
and good eyes there is a bit of a difference between the 2 sides
the drivers headlight bucket is pushed in closer just a tad
it is where it fit the best
when i do the p*** side i will pull it all together
    make it symmetrical
the camera angle is messing with the look just a bit also

Coming together nicely. Looks like a good solid 'barn find' body to begin with. Makes it so much easier with less work fixing everything else up as well.

I'm really glad to see a completely new approach to the from of one of these. I'm not sure I'd have never thought of the Pontiac grille.

Excellent! Just picked up a Special DeLuxe " find" myself.. Great build!

  24. Sorry, I just got here or I would have commented sooner. I had a '40 DeSoto 4-door sedan as my daily driver in the 1970's. It was a great cruiser! I'm surprised how similar the '40 DeSoto and Pontiac grilles are. I believe the horizontal bars are thicker in the Pontiac, but the grilles are the same shape. Anyway, it's a great look for the Plymouth. It took some imagination to visualize those grilles in there, and a lot of work to make it happen. The rolled pan is a nice touch as well. The front end looks 100% better than stock. Good work!

@uglybaby good to see you still on your project and as the others have said you have things well in control...Looks just Dandy...

The Photo****et curse has plagued your Thread but due to the fact you are still active on here you could go back and and Edit your posts with pic problems.

By putting your pics back in your posts it helps those that could use your tech...;)

I can't emphasize enough to stay away from storing pics on sites like this...

Thanks for the update and Happy New Year...
