Whats up yall...need some help. Been months between dis***embly and rebuilding my front end. I am putting together the driver's side along with a front disc conversion I got from Ecklers. I've run into a snag and I think I may have fugged it up. I cant get caliper to mount right.-With/without spacers, tab in front of knuckle, tab in back of the knuckle. Only thing I can think of is I may have put the wrong spindle on the wrong side. Which way should it turn the least? Or better way to put it, where should the spindle mount hit the bump stop? Towards the firewall or toward the radiator??? Ive looked for 3 hours now online and in the manual and cant figure it out. Here are pics to kinda show what I am asking. The PVC is there laying parallel to the frame rails. This is the drivers side, so the firewall is to the RT and radiator to the LT. 1st pic is with wheel straight, 2nd pic is wheel as if it was right turn- turns the most hits the caliper bracket bolt before it stops, 3rd is as if it was a left turn and has the least amount of movement. This is when the spindle mount hits the stop. Just want to make sure I have this right, or I fugged it up before I go taking it off. Hope this isnt too confusing.
Hello buzzbrother. The left, or driver's side steering knuckle/spindle mount, will hit the bump stop on the firewall side. So, according to your pics you have it correct. Hope this helps, Dave.
The instructions say that it has left and right side caliper brackets http://www.ecklersearlychevy.com/***ets/pdf/earlychevy/820056.pdf Read step 2 real close. The upper tabs go on the outside. The lower tab goes on the inside of the spindle.
